Apple's new iPhone 4S won't be available in the U.S. until this Friday, October 14. That hasn't stopped a record-setting one million people from pre-ordering the smart phone from Apple and its partnered wireless service providers in the U.S.
According to Reuters, Sprint-Nextel has sold out of the basic $200 iPhone 4S—the first Apple phone among the wireless carrier's stable of smart phones. Veteran iPhone carriers AT&T and Verizon also note backlogs of the new iPhone, with delivery to customers not expected to happen until November 4 and October 20, respectively.
Meanwhile, several tech websites report that consumers in Germany are receiving their pre-ordered iPhone 4S in advance of this Friday's official sales date.
Consumer Reports purchases from retail outlets all the products it tests for its Ratings. And our testers are eager to get its hands on with Apple's latest smart phone. We'll report our findings as soon as possible.
