Better Business Bureau launches iPhone app

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has released a search app available for free through the Apple Store for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The BBB app can be used to search for local businesses by name, phone, URL, or category type, and users have the choice of viewing search results either on a map or as a list. Search can be done for current location or any other specified city, state or ZIP code, and previous searches will be stored in the history menu.

"We have data on more than 4 million businesses in the United States and Canada, an amazing wealth of information to help consumers find trustworthy businesses," Stephen Cox, president and CEO of the Council of Better Business Bureaus said in a press statement. Cox added that the BBB app can also help on-the-go consumers avoid business that are not trustworthy.

Additional features for the BBB Search app:

View the BBB review for every business listing, complete with contact info, BBB rating and accreditation status, and consumer complaint history.
Save information for a listed business either to your favorites or iOS contacts.
Share a BBB business review URL via email, Twitter, or Facebook.
Find a local BBB near you.
Read the latest BBB consumer news.

The free BBB Search app is available for devices running iOS 3.1 or higher.
