Sam's Club is offering a $15 membership that lasts for 15 weeks, which happens to coincide with this year's holiday shopping season. The membership offer ends this Monday, Oct. 10.
An annual $40 "Advantage" or $35 "Business" membership is usually required to shop at Sam's Club. Those packages may be a better option for shoppers planning to use Sam's year-round, but the $15 membership provides seasonal shoppers with a chance to try out the chain without getting locked in for a full year.
The $15 offer is only open to new members, who sign up at a Sam's Club location. Members can still shop online at the Sam's Club web site.
Warehouse stores like Sam's Club tend to have minimal service and carry a limited assortment of mostly bulk items, but our supermarket survey of more than 32,000 subscribers also found that it's difficult to find a perfect store. Costco, which survey respondents were pretty happy with, just raised its annual membership fees by 10 percent. Annual memberships there will start at $55 as of November 1.
