About 28,000 Ashland brand glass vases sold exclusively at Michaels Arts and Crafts stores have been recalled because the vases can break or fracture just by being picked up, posing an injury hazard.
Michaels has received four reports of the vase shattering, causing lacerations to the hands for all four. One person had surgery, two got stitches.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that an additional 1,800 vases were also recalled in Canada.
Sold for about $20 between January 2008 and October 2011, the rectangular glass vases are 12 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep. The SKU number, 425827, and UPC number, 6-927619-661665, are printed on a label on the bottom of the vase.
The recalled vase can be returned to a Michaels Arts & Crafts store for a full refund, but handle the vase with care to avoid the risk of breakage and possible injury.
