About 27,000 Wolfgang Puck Electric Reversible Tri-Grill/Griddles have been recalled because a defect in the electrical wiring of the grills can pose an overheating, melting and electrical shock hazard.
There have been four reports of electrical shock and two reports of melted plastic housing, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the recall today.
The stainless steel Wolfgang Puck combination electric grills/griddles have dual thermostatic controls and model number BRTGG010, which is located on an ETL/Intertek foil sticker label affixed to the bottom of the unit. The grills measure about 14.5 inches in width, 11 inches in depth and 6.5 inches in height. "Wolfgang Puck Bistro Collection" is stamped on the front next to the control dials.
The Wolfgang Puck grills were sold for about $100 exclusively by The Home Shopping Network (HSN) nationwide, HSN's telephone ordering system and at www.HSN.com for about one week between April 30, and May 6, 2011.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled combination grills/griddles and contact W.P. Appliances for instructions on returning the product for a full refund. For more information, contact W.P. Appliances at 855-666-0478, or visit www.brtgg010-recall.com.
