Nokia to provide $100 credit for Lumia 900 'software issue'

Consumer Reports News: April 11, 2012 12:08 PM

Nokia has acknowledged on it website that its Lumia 900 smart phone, which launched on AT&T for $100 on April 8, has an issue that may in some instances cause you to lose data connectivity. The company says this is strictly a software-based memory-management problem that can be resolved with an update it will make available on April 16.

The update will require you to sync the phone with your Zune accounts on your computer. Nokia is also giving its customers the option of swapping out their current Lumia 900 for a new one.

In any case, "as a gesture of good will," Nokia says it will provide $100 credit to the AT&T bills of customers who have purchased a Lumia 900, essentially making the phone free. The offer applies to purchases made up until April 21.

I recently did a first-look review of this Windows phone, but I didn't encounter any connectivity problems while Web browsing, streaming content, or using Web-dependent apps. Let us know if you've had trouble with your Lumia 900.
