Verizon today unveiled the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, the latest smart phone designed to run on Verizon's ultrafast 4G LTE data network. Announced as the wireless industry and media, including Consumer Reports staffers, are arriving in New Orleans for International CTIA Wireless 2012, which opens tomorrow, the phone will debut "in the coming weeks," at a price yet to be revealed.
This new Droid comes with a 4-inch super LCD qHD display, an 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, and a feature called Android Beam, which allows users to quickly share Web pages, apps, contacts and YouTube videos with friends by tapping two compatible phones together.
The Incredible 4G LTE will debut with Android Ice Cream Sandwich and will be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Its camera will allow users to shoot HD video and capture photos at the same time, a capability I tried and praised on HTC's One S phone last month. (It was also confirmed today that the related HTC One V would be available "through a variety of U.S. partners later this summer.") The still/video camera feature is also available on other HTC phones, including the upcoming Evo 4G LTE that should debut on Sprint any day now.
I hope to have hands-on first impressions of this new Droid and other phones as I meet with manufacturers and walk the show floor here at the Convention Center over the next few days.
