It's not easy to get excited about toilet seats, but the new Grip-Tight Reveal Q3 from Kohler, on display at the International Builders' Show, could really make life easier in the bathroom—especially if you're the fastidious type, or if you've ever landed on the bathroom floor after a movable seat sent you for a ride.
The Q3 refers to three features that make the seat different. First, it's quick to install and should work with most toilets. Simply place the seat on the bowl, slide the wing nuts onto the screws and tighten 'er up with a screwdriver. The seat is also quick to release, thanks to hinges that pop up, allowing you to slide the seat forward. For neat freaks, that means being able to get at every grimy crevice. Finally, the seat is quiet, with a soft-close lid that prevents slamming.
And there's more: the grip-tight rubber bumpers keep the seat from sliding on the bowl. And the overhanging lid covers the seat ring, for a seamless look. Available in round and elongated shapes, the Grip-Tight Reveal Q3 is standard on select Kohler toilets and it's also sold separately as a retrofit option for a list price of $69.25.
