CES 2013 video: Five top products of the show

The Consumer Electronics Show never fails to bring product innovation and evolution that we can (more or less) predict—and to deliver some great surprises, too. This year's top products are a mix of both.

    1. Huawei Ascend Mate smart phone: The China-based company caught a lot of people off guard when it unveiled the Ascend Mate: This record-setting phone boasts a huge 6.1-inch HD (720p) display, besting the Samsung Galaxy Note II by 0.6 inches. Its 4,050 mAh battery is also the largest available on a smart phone, promising more than 13 hours of talk time on a single charge. And the Ascend D2's 5-inch display, with 1080p resolution, ties with HTC's Droid DNA for the world's sharpest screen, with 443 pixels per inch (ppi).

    2. Lenovo Horizon "Table PC": It's a 27-inch all-in-one computer that can also transform into, in essence, a giant tablet complete with touch screen that lies flat so that you can have multiple users, watch movies, and especially, play games on top of it. It also runs on battery power, so you can take it anywhere you'd care to use a giant tablet. This has some fun possibilities!

    3. Fisher-Price Apptivity Create & Learn Case: This is much more than an iPad case that keeps the tablet safe for your kids to use (though it's that, too): The Create & Learn Case also offers augmented-reality interactivity. Place an "A is for Apple" card under the case, for example, and when the iPad camera detects it, the apple comes to life on the screen.

    4. Samsung S9 85-inch 4K TV: In a show chock-full of high-end TV technology, Samsung stands out with this set—and not only because it's so massive. The set is, according to Samsung, the world's largest. And it comes housed in an unusual-looking frame.

    5. Toyota's autonomous "driverless" car: The auto maker is trying to bring us one step closer to living like the Jetsons, with this concept-car demo. Toyota stresses that the car is packed with technology to help us drive more safely, not (necessarily) to take a nap in the backseat!
