CES 2013 video: Vizio 11.6-inch Tablet PC is biggest we've seen so far

We've seen smart phones getting bigger and bigger, and now tablets are following suit. The newest Vizio Tablet PC is a whopping 11.6-inch device that weighs 1.8 pounds. It's the largest tablet we've seen, but it didn't feel overly bulky or uncomfortable to hold, for me. With that large screen comes a full high-def display—not a surprising feature from a TV manufacturer such as Vizio.

The tablet runs on the full version of Windows 8, so you can use all your older software, and download new apps from the new Windows Store. It's got the Signature version, which means there are no add-on "bloatware" apps. It runs on an AMD Z60 processor, making it the first AMD-based tablet we know of. AMD says this tablet has no fan, which is not unusual for Android-based tablets, but some earlier Wiindows 7 tablets have used fans. It's got a Micro-HDMI out port, as well as a Micro-USB 2.0 port.

The company also introduced 14- and 15.6-inch thin-and-light laptops with touchscreens. You can choose either quad-core Intel Core i7 or AMD A10 processors. There's a solid-state drive in each, which keeps the weight down, as does the aluminum body. The 15.6-inch model, for example, weighs just 4.8 pounds, putting it among the lighter models of that size. The laptops also include USB 3.0 ports for faster data transfer.
Vizio's new laptops and tablet will be available this spring, but pricing has not been announced yet. For more news from CES, take a look at our CES news page.
