Typically, double-oven ranges feature one large oven and one smaller chamber. But the new Frigidaire Symmetry Double Oven ranges have, as the name implies, two same-sized ovens. Consumer Reports tested two of the 30-inch electric smoothtop ranges and found the Symmetry is superb. Both made our list of top picks.
The Frigidaire FGEF302TNF, $1,400, and the Frigidaire FGEF308TNF, $1,800, join our growing list of tested double-oven ranges. Both models were excellent overall and have large capacities. We put a 26-pound turkey in each oven in both ranges and found there was nothing to squawk about. The $1,800 model has a convection feature in both ovens. Convection can speed up cooking, using fans to circulate the warm air. And the $1,400 range adds a second high-power surface element—handy for bringing water to a fast boil—which the pricier range lacks. For more details, see our full range Ratings and click on "Features & Specs" for product details.
As we wrote in Don't think twice about buying these top-rated double ovens, there are several things to consider when buying a double oven including the clarity of the controls and which of the two ovens has what features. Also keep in mind that you'll be giving up the storage drawer on the bottom of most ranges so you'll need to find another place for all those cookie sheets. For more range reviews, see our full Ratings of electric and gas ranges including pro-style models.
