Volvo quietly makes a midyear update, adds standard navigation and connectivity

Options and standard equipment are shuffled across a range of models

    Published: July 17, 2014 04:30 PM

Automakers routinely update their cars without telling buyers. But they don't usually do it all at once, as Volvo has just discretely done.

Starting last week, the company began delivering updated models that are all called 2015.5 models. Some options have been reshuffled into different packages on various models, as well. For example, the 2015.5s include standard navigation with Volvo's Sensus Connect system, which allows you to surf the Internet and check e-mail from the car (when parked). Those were added cost features on regular 2015s.

Details and pricing vary by model. So if you're shopping for a Volvo, or considering any other brand, make sure you know what model year you're considering. With the extra standard equipment on newer models, you should be able to negotiate for bigger discounts on remaining 2015s.

Check out our complete road tests of the Volvo S60 and S80 sedans, XC70 wagon, and XC60 and XC90 SUVs.
