VIDEO. The Sony RX0 takes very good video, higher quality than most Action camcorders. Pictures were sharp, which means you can see most details and subtle patterns in the image. In low-light situations, the video was very good: fairly bright, only slightly soft and grainy.
AUDIO. It captures good audio in mono, better than most.
PHOTO QUALITY. In Photo mode it captures at best 21-megapixel stills with excellent quality, which is unusual for a camcorder.
LENS. The lens has a fixed focal length; it has no zoom capability. The lens also has a very wide-angle (24mm) capability that's very useful for landscapes and group portraits, although you may notice a bit of distortion when you're shooting faces up close, for instance.
IMAGE STABILIZER. This model lacks an image stabilizer, so your images may look shaky.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS. It survived our repeated-drop test. It survived being dunked in 33 feet of water for 30 minutes without its optional waterproof enclosure. It has a large 1.5-inch LCD, which has good quality that lets you compose your shots and has decent playback of video. This model is about average in size and much lighter than the average action camcorder.
