Detailed Test Results

Design and features:The open-air design of this home/studio-style on-ear model doesn't muffle outside sounds, so you'll be able to hear that door bell or car horn when you are wearing the headphones. This model has medium-high sensitivity, so it can provide satisfying volume levels when used with home audio equipment and even lower-powered portable audio devices. Additional features include earpieces that swivel flat for travel and storage, an extension cord, and a mini-plug-to-1/4-inch-plug adapter.

Sound quality: We found the HPH-200 delivers very good overall sound with a warm character. Bass has good impact, but is a bit thumpy and lacking in definition; upper bass is slightly prominent while lacking some low bass extension. Midrange is somewhat recessed. Treble is a bit dry sounding, sibilance is a bit soft, and very recessed and lacks some high treble extension. Sound is somewhat open with good dynamics.

Comfort: We found that these headphones were generally comfortable, with some sense of pressure on the ears. The velour ear pads might feel hot after prolonged use.
