    Detailed Test Results

Performance: Overall this laptop's performance was excellent. Tasks like email, word processing and web browsing will be speedy and you can even accomplish tougher tasks like video editing and mid-range gaming at top speed. It was among the fastest with productivity and Web-based tasks such as word processing, Web browsing, and scanning for malware. It was among the fastest for viewing and editing photos, and among the fastest for viewing and editing HD videos. Sound from the built-in speakers was inadequate for all but the simplest use.

Portability: This laptop is a good choice for traveling. At 10 hours, battery life was long enough to get you through a typical workday. At 2.4 pounds, this is lightweight for a laptop this size.

Ergonomics: The keyboard, touchpad, labeling, and LED indicators were all well-designed, making it comfortable and convenient to use. The keyboard was not full-sized and it was wobbly and uncomfortable to type on. The keyboard was lighted. The touchpad supports use of multiple-finger gestures to zoom and scroll. The touchpad has two buttons that are easy to press. The touchpad is well positioned on the keyboard, so it's easy to reach and not prone to interference from arms or wrists.

Display: The display quality was very good overall. Colors were accurately reproduced, realistic, and natural looking. The display was highly prone to glare making it difficult to see in a brightly lit room or outdoors. The display has a wide viewing angle, especially important if more than one person needs to see the screen at a time, say, for a video or presentation. The touchscreen will make swiping, tapping and pinching the screen easy to use.

Useful features and attributes on this model include: Laptop converts to a touchscreen tablet to be used as either a laptop computer or a tablet. There's a 128GB solid-state hard drive, which uses less power and accesses data more quickly. You can connect common external devices such as hard drives and Blu-ray burners to the USB 3.0 port for maximum performance. A DVI port is provided for connecting this laptop to an HDTV.

Downsides: There's no optical drive like a CD or DVD reader, so you'll have to buy an external drive if you need one. There is no memory-card reader, so you'll need to buy an external reader or connect your digital camera directly to this laptop to transfer photos. The battery is not easily removable.
