Sound quality: Onn's 100071725 has Fair overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. In the Standard sound mode with the bass tone control set to provide the most even tonal balance, bass has good impact and goes deep but is prominent, boomy, and somewhat tubby. Midrange is fairly even to a bit nasal depending on the program material, somewhat echoey, a bit grainy and muffled, and is a somewhat overwhelmed by the bass. Treble is fairly extended, the lower treble is subdued while the mid treble is somewhat sizzly and a bit smeared. Does a decent job of recovering room ambience, but the echoey quality of the midrange gives the sound an overly reverberant quality and the overall sound is somewhat congested. With stereo program material the two channel sound field extends a somewhat above and not much beyond the sides of the speaker array, and lacks depth. The other sound modes have a significant effect on the sound field and/or tonal balance. With multi-channel material the sound field is noticeably wider and taller than with stereo program material. The sound modes have a noticeable effect on the sound field and/or tonal balance. There was no significant difference in sound quality between the HDMI, optical, aux, USB and Bluetooth inputs. The system can provide satisfying volume in a medium sized room.
