Sound quality:
Onn's Roku Smart Soundbar delivers sound quality that falls in the Good range - it reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. The bass has good impact, but is slightly boomy and prominent and doesn't go deep. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat soft and hazy, and slightly grainy. Treble is fairly extended, but is somewhat subdued and slightly smeared. This model does a so-so job of recovering room ambience, and the overall sound is somewhat congested. With stereo program material the 2-channel (stereo) sound field extends a bit above and beyond the width of the soundbar and lacks front-to-back depth.
There was no significant difference in sound quality between the HDMI, optical, WiFi, USB, and Bluetooth inputs.
The system can provide satisfying volume in a medium sized room.
Multichannel
With 5.1-channel program material the sound field extends well above and beyond the width of the soundbar but still lacks front-to-back depth, and the speech clarity modes have the same effect as they do with stereo program material.
Dialog Mode
The two speech clarity modes makes the sound rougher and more nasal to varying degrees.
TV ease of use: Excellent overall.
