Sound quality: TCL's Q6510 has mediocre overall sound quality - this model has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. With the tone controls set to provide the most even tonal balance the bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is a somewhat prominent and tubby. The midrange is somewhat hazy, a bit plasticky and a touch thin. The treble is fairly extended but is a bit subdued and somewhat smeared and sizzly. This model does a so-so job of recovering room ambience and its overall sound is somewhat congested. The two channel sound stage extends a bit above but not much to the sides of the speaker array and lacks depth. When playing Dolby digital 5.1 channel program material with the rear surround speakers properly positioned behind the listener and their volume levels properly adjusted the sound stage sounds taller and wider and, depending on the program material, may even envelope the listener on the sides and to the rear; however it still lacks some depth. The other sound modes have a noticeable effect on the sound field and/or tonal balance. Regardless of the type of program material being played the various sound modes had a noticeable effect on the sound field and/or tonal balance. There was no significant difference in sound quality between HDMI, optical, Aux, USB, and Bluetooth inputs.
TV ease of use: Very good overall.
