Sound quality: Brane Audio's Brane X had very Good overall sound quality - although it has some noticeable sonic quirks, this model reproduces music and dialog very well. The bass has good impact and goes deep but is somewhat prominent and boomy. Midrange is fairly even but is a bit hazy, grainy and congested. Treble is fairly extended but is a touch prominent and smeared Does a decent job of recovering room ambience and is a bit congested. The stereo sound field extends a bit above and not much to the sides of the speaker enclosure. Individual instruments and voices are identifiable but have a two dimensional quality. When two units are combined to form a stereo pair; its sound stage can be made wider depending on placement.
