Sound quality: Edifier's QD35 had middling overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has good impact, but is a bit prominent and boomy and doesn't go deep. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat grainy, a bit hazy, and a touch plasticky and nasal. Treble is extended, but is slightly smeared and sizzly. It does a so-so to decent job of recovering room ambience, but is a bit congested. The speaker is monophonic. There is no significant difference between Bluetooth, Aux and USB sound quality. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room.
Ease of use: We found the Edifier QD35 ease of use to be very good overall. Bluetooth: Unit is in pairing mode when paired for the first time or after a factory reset, has a pairing mode indicator (flashing light), indicates with a tone and solid light when pairing has occurred; the power button serves as a multifunction control which includes the pairing mode. The volume control is a labeled +/- multifunction knob with a nonpersistent numerical display and a visual indicator for max volume, and controls Aux input. Switching between Bluetooth, USB and Aux inputs requires the turn of a multifunction selection button and has clear indicators of the selected inputs using good contrast labeling and digital display.
