Sound quality: Klipsch's Austin had acceptable overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has little impact, is somewhat subdued and does not go deep. Midrange is a bit thin, somewhat hazy and grainy, and a touch sibilant and etched. Treble is fairly extended, but is a bit prominent, and somewhat smeared, sizzly, and dry. It does a so-so job of recovering room ambience in the upper midrange and treble, but doesn't do a good job in the lower midrange, and sounds somewhat congested. The speaker is monophonic. When two units are used as a stereo pair the sound stage can be made wider depending on placement. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room, but is better suited for near field listening.
