Sound quality: Marshall's Emberton II had Good overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has good impact, is somewhat prominent and boomy, and the deepest bass is lacking. Midrange is fairly even but is somewhat hazy, and a bit grainy. Treble is fairly extended but somewhat smeared and a bit prominent. Does a so-so job recovering room ambience, sounds slightly congested and is lacking in detail. It provides a decent volume level in a small sized room and is well suited for near field listening, at its loudest volume levels, the sound becomes strained.
