Sound quality: Marshall's Middleton had decent overall sound quality - this model reproduces music and dialog reasonably well despite the obvious shortcomings in its sound. Bass has good impact and goes fairly deep, but is slightly prominent and somewhat boomy. Midrange is fairly even, but is somewhat hazy and a touch grainy. Treble is fairly extended, but is slightly smeared and sizzly. It does a decent job of recovering room ambience but sounds somewhat congested. Provides a decent volume level in a medium sized room, but at its loudest volume levels the sound becomes strained. No significant difference between Bluetooth and Aux input sound quality.

Manufacturer claims the unit is IP67 dust and water resistant. When paired with the Marshall Bluetooth app can receive over the air firmware updates. The Marshall Bluetooth app has remote control feature that can be used to adjust the volume, play, pause, and adjust bass and treble. At time of testing: Firmware Version 17.0.30, Apple App version: 3.0.2 (230412.122), Android App version: 3.0.1.
