    Dew HD
The Kona Dew has wide tires and attractive, lightly retro styling. But for the price, we expected more capability. The electric assist works well, but only when the rider keeps up a high pedal cadence. In other words, the faster you spin the pedals, the more e-assist comes to your aid. If you slow your pedal speed, there isn’t as much help from the hub-mounted electric motor. An eight-speed gear cassette that works independently of the electric motor helps ease pedaling without electric power. The bike’s riding position is upright and comfortable, but be sure to pick a frame size that works for you (there are four to choose from). The bike’s handlebar-mounted digital display is small and difficult to see, especially with sunglasses on, making it challenging to gauge power level, remaining battery life, and other display parameters. Steering is sensitive and a bit twitchy, but the Dew comes with responsive hydraulic disc brakes for sure stopping. There are plenty of attachment points for accessories such as fenders and bags.
