Although CR’s testers didn’t think the Moscow was much of a mountain bike in terms of its ability to tackle technical terrain, it was a blast on gradually sloped roads, both paved and unpaved. Even so, testers found that the Moscow had skittish handling, most likely due to the ease with which the handlebars could stray from centerline. It almost makes up for being such a heavy bike (almost 56 pounds) by having lots of power and a throttle control, which makes it seem almost like a dirt bike. However, what makes it fun could also make it quite dangerous to someone who’s not used to riding a fast electric-powered bike. On a gravel road with flat pitch, it isn’t even necessary to pedal. It works well on mild hills, too, because you can use the throttle to nudge the bike over little obstacles. Although the Moscow is priced the same as the Jetson Adventure, it has more power and better range (probably because of its huge, heavy battery). CR’s testers thought that this bike would be best for someone with some experience on motorcycles or dirt bikes.

The NCM Moscow electric mountain bike is, overall, a very good choice. This hub-drive bike has its electric motor located within the rear wheel's hub, which doesn't allow the e-assist to use the bike's mechanical gearing for more effective climbing, cruising, and getting through difficult terrain. It also has cable-pull disc brakes, which don't work as well as hydraulic disc brakes, especially on long downhills.
