    Ridgewood 29
Many people still associate Schwinn with the halcyon days of that brand’s fame some decades back, when the company produced high-quality road and cruiser bikes that etched themselves into the collective memory. In general, the Schwinns of today leave much to be desired, and the electric Ridgewood 29 is no exception. Low-end components, shoddy build quality, and anemic electric power are among this model’s most glaring deficiencies. Parts rattle, and there’s not much electric boost when you need it. It is a mountain bike in name only, and on the woodland trails CR tackled, testers found that the going would have been easier on a conventional, pedal-powered mountain bike that weighed much less.

    About

The Schwinn Ridgewood 29 electric mountain bike is, overall, a good choice. This hub-drive bike has its electric motor located within the rear wheel's hub, which doesn't allow the e-assist to use the bike's mechanical gearing for more effective climbing, cruising, and getting through difficult terrain. It also has cable-pull disc brakes, which don't work as well as hydraulic disc brakes, especially on long downhills.
