The Discover 1 offers many of the same features as more expensive models—hydraulic disc brakes, fenders, and a hub-drive motor that powers the rear wheel and can be controlled without pedaling by using a thumb-operated throttle. It also comes with integrated front and rear LED lights, a seven-speed Shimano shifter. It’s available in a wide range of colors, with either a sturdy high-step frame or a more convenient step-through frame. But at 60 pounds, it is a bit heavier than some other models, which can make it more difficult to move if you need to put it away or load it into the car.
