In December 2024 the 40-volt 5.0Ah Skil lithium-ion battery this mower uses was recalled because it can overheat, smoke, and melt, posing fire and burn hazards to users. All of the recalled batteries were made before May 1, 2021. The words “SKIL” and “PWRCORE 40” are printed on the batteries, though not all batteries with this design are impacted.
