YONKERS, N.Y. and WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Consumer Reports (CR), the nonprofit membership organization, today announced promotions for three CR executives to help deliver on its mission of working side by side with consumers to create a fairer, safer, and healthier consumer marketplace.
Shar Taylor has been named to the newly-created role of VP, Chief Social Impact Officer. Ms. Taylor, who previously served as Vice President of Development, will oversee strategy development and management across CR’s consumer advocacy, philanthropic partnerships, and consumer mobilization teams to effect significant marketplace change. Prior to joining CR in 2016, Ms. Taylor served as Senior Director, Philanthropic Partnerships at The Pew Charitable Trusts.
David Friedman, has been promoted to VP, Advocacy, overseeing CR’s championing of public policy, corporate, and marketplace reforms to advance the safety and well-being of consumers. Mr. Friedman previously served as CR’s Director of Cars and Product Policy and Analysis. Prior to coming to CR in 2017, he served as both Deputy and Acting Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and he served at the U.S. Department of Energy as Principal Deputy and Acting Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).
Geoffrey MacDougall, has been promoted to VP, Social Impact Partnerships, driving strategic philanthropic partnerships leading through CR’s major donor engagement and planned giving programs. Since joining CR in 2015, Mr. MacDougall has shaped and influenced many of the strategies that have driven CR’s efforts across consumer mobilization, membership, consumer privacy issues, and development. Prior to CR, he served as Vice President of Engagement at the Mozilla Foundation.
In announcing the promotions, Consumer Reports President and CEO Marta L. Both Messrs. Friedman and MacDougall will report directly to Ms. Taylor.
