YONKERS, NY – As people buy homes in record numbers and continue to spend more time at home, Consumer Reports (CR), the nonprofit research, testing, and consumer advocacy organization, is introducing Upkept, a new all-in-one app that helps homeowners maintain their home inside and out.
Upkept is the latest example of how CR constantly innovates to serve consumers’ needs. By providing straightforward assistance for this always complicated (and often costly) part of homeownership, we can make life easier for millions across the country
One of the trickiest parts of maintaining a home, especially for new homeowners, is knowing what to do and when to do it. With Upkept, homeowners can get expert advice, create a plan for anything in the home that needs maintenance - from the floors to the roof, even the appliances and systems - and automatically schedule tasks throughout the year so that the right work gets done at the right time.
“While the world today looks very different than when CR was founded 85 years ago, the reason people still turn to us hasn’t changed: they trust our independent experts who are dedicated to promoting fairness, keeping consumers safe, and helping them get the most value for their money,” said Marta L. Tellado, President and CEO of Consumer Reports. “Upkept is the latest example of how CR constantly innovates to serve consumers’ needs. By providing straightforward assistance for this always complicated (and often costly) part of homeownership, we can make life easier for millions across the country.”
With the app, homeowners can learn the best time to tackle DIY projects and get step-by-step instructions and expert tips to do them right. Upkept also lets people know when it’s time to call in a pro. In addition, it allows users to upload receipts, keep track of parts, and add repair notes, helping homeowners stay organized.
Upkept is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Users can try it for free for 90 days then it costs 4.99 per month. For more information, go to Upkepthome.com.
