This joint news release was issued today by NBCUniversal News Group and Consumer Reports:
YONKERS, NY – NBCUniversal News Group has launched the Best Product Reviews, a destination on Shop TODAY and Select, featuring product reviews from Consumer Reports (CR), the nonprofit research, testing, and consumer advocacy organization.
With the goal of helping consumers on their purchasing journey, the NBCU News Group has created this new commerce destination with curated editorial content to make shopping for everything – from everyday items to big purchases – easier than ever. Beginning today, users can access a selection of product reviews from Consumer Reports on TODAY.com/Shop and NBCNews.com/Select.
By using the Best Product Reviews filters, users can quickly find unbiased product information tailored to their needs in categories such as Bed & Bath, Cooking, Health & Safety, Tech, Tools & Appliances, and Lifestyle & Fitness. Through Consumer Reports’ objective product reviews, based on evidence, research and testing, consumers are provided the important information they need to make smarter purchasing decisions.
In addition to the Shop TODAY and Select destinations, TODAY will also feature Consumer Reports content in regular broadcast segments over the coming months. The CR-tested products will be shoppable via QR codes on screen during the broadcast.
“As we continue to expand and evolve our commerce business, we are excited to partner with Consumer Reports to provide a new content experience for users,” said Ashley Parrish, SVP of Commerce for NBCU News Group. “With endless options available at our fingertips, making an informed decision about which products to purchase can be difficult. By utilizing our Best Product Reviews hub, viewers can seamlessly shop expertly curated content from trusted sources.”
“With so many fake online reviews, it can be difficult to know who and what to trust,” said Lauren Stanich, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Consumer Reports. “This partnership with NBC is a new way for CR to reach and engage more consumers wherever they are so people can shop smart, save money, and stay safe.”
Since launching its commerce program in late 2017, NBCU News Group Commerce has seen significant growth. In October, the News Group launched Select, a commerce destination giving readers high-quality, expertly-sourced product and service recommendations to help audiences upgrade their lives. Shop TODAY offers readers an easy way to find and purchase products featured on the broadcast, a dedicated Steals & Deals section, dozens of gift guides for every occasion, as well as shoppable fashion, beauty and wellness content and more. TODAY All Day, the morning show’s streaming lifestyle channel, also offers weekly shoppable streaming content: Shop All Day – the new weekly shoppable series streaming Thursdays – brings viewers must-have finds and the hottest items to make their lives easier; and Shop TODAY with Jill Martin – the monthly shop-while-you-watch streaming show – helps viewers find product solutions to everyday problems and an easy-to-purchase shopping experience.
The NBCU News Group and Consumer Reports will earn affiliate commission on purchases made through the Best Product Reviews destination on Shop TODAY and Select.
