Vacuums and Floor Care
While the Kenmore Elite Pet Friendly CrossOver 21814 might be on the heavier side at 26 pounds, it makes up for it with its strong performance. Compared to other vacuums we test, it’s especially good at cleaning carpets and bare floors. Its suction power also earned an excellent score, the highest in its category. It’s currently selling at the lowest price we’ve seen in the last six months, so it’s worth snagging if it’s the vac you’re looking for.
The Shark PowerDetect IP1251 comes with lots of bells and whistles, including a dirt detection feature and a floor detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed based on the surface it’s vacuuming. It’s very good at sucking up debris from carpets and is even more impressive at picking up pet hair. The vacuum can be converted into a hand vac and folded for storage, too.
If you’re a pet owner, the price on this Shark Vertex DuoClean AZ2002 is a real steal. It’s now just $30 more than it was during Prime Day, after being on sale for $385 for several weeks. It picks up pet hair especially well, has exceptional suction power, and does a solid job of containing small dust particles. It also has a lift-away canister, which makes cleaning hard-to-reach places easier. The self-cleaning brush roll prevents pet hair (and any long hair) from wrapping around it and getting tangled in the vacuum.

Air Purifiers
The HoMedics AP-T200 has impressive performance and an attractive design, similar to the AP-C500. It performs impressively on both high and low speeds and is easy to use. Just expect a fair amount of noise while it’s running. The major difference is that this model is designed for medium rooms of 150-350 square feet, so it’s smaller in size and has a smaller price tag.
Bed and Bath
The Tuft & Needle Original Foam Pillow, constructed from polyurethane foam and featuring a micro-polyamide and polyester cover, impressed testers with its exceptional breathability. Our lab tests indicate it’s an excellent option for side sleepers, though less suitable for back sleepers. Users can expect consistent firmness, height, and support over time. And while this is not the lowest price we’ve seen, it’s a nice savings off the full price.
This adjustable-fill pillow from Layla marries polyurethane foam with kapok—the featherlike fiber made from the seed pods of the kapok tree, popular for being a vegan alternative to down. Our tests find that the model lives up to the material’s reputation, offering top-notch breathability in a soft and rather resilient package. Despite not having cooling properties as its name suggests, the pillow does not retain warmth. And while it offers stellar support for side sleepers, back sleepers are also well served by this pick. This price is for a two-pack of queen pillows.
Coop’s Original Pillow is one of the best in CR’s ratings, excelling in all of CR’s tests. The other pillow we tested from this brand, the Cool+ Adjustable Classic, does well too, giving you another option to explore if you have different style sleepers in your household. Coop’s sheets also earn CR’s recommendation.
Coop is the brand that introduced the "original" adjustable pillow to the market, and it seems it has another top-rated bedding product on its hands. Coop Sleep Goods ComphySoftSpa sheets excelled in our shrinkage and fit tests, proving they’ll stay securely on your mattress even after multiple washes. These polyester linens won’t wrinkle much, and their pleasing strength test results mean they’ll stand the test of time.
Sheets
Boll & Branch Percale Solid
The Boll & Branch Percale Solid sheet set fits mattresses up to 14 inches deep and includes directional tags for easier bed-making. It scores well for fit, with average performance in strength, shrinkage, and wrinkling. A decent everyday option, especially if you value soft percale and thoughtful design touches.

Blackout Curtains
Blackout curtains can be a total game-changer. The Amazon Basics Room Darkening Blackout Curtains are among the best we evaluated for a number of reasons. Tested in both black and white, they scored a perfect 5 out of 5 for their ability to block light. As for how well the curtains provide insulation against heat loss and gain, we scored it 4 out of 5. Made from polyester/polyurethane, each panel uses loops to attach to a rod. They’re also washable—making them both functional and convenient.
Comforters & Duvets
Buffy Cloud Comforter
Buffy’s Cloud Comforter is the softest choice in our at-home assessment, and it’s back down to the lowest price we’ve seen at Amazon. Thanks to its smooth, silky feel and fluffiness, the duvet is comfortable enough to use without a duvet cover. Made of recycled materials, it’s uniformly stuffed in layers to prevent clumping and shedding. The shell material is 100 percent sateen-weave Tencel lyocell.
Utopia Bedding Comforter Duvet Insert
The Utopia Bedding duvet insert is perfect if you don’t want to spend a ton on a new comforter. I have one that I’ve been using for the past three years, and I find it to be lightweight and perfect for warmer nights. And with a good duvet cover, it gets cozy and warm. CR’s reviewer pointed out that it’s not as fluffy as other duvets (it is on the thinner side). The material is synthetic, so it doesn’t allow for the airflow that those made with natural fibers like cotton can provide.

Mattresses
Bear mattresses like the Elite Hybrid get high marks for owner satisfaction and comfort in our exclusive member survey. The Elite Hybrid also gets near-perfect scores across the board for petite, average, and large and tall folks of all sleep styles. This, along with the Star Hybrid and the Pro Hybrid, earns the CR Recommended badge. Use the online code to get the 35 percent discount.
If you’re looking for a soft mattress, the Casper Dream is a solid pick, providing pressure relief and comfort to those who need it. It was recently about $100 less, but this is still a nice discount. In our lab evaluation, we found the model—a newbie to CR’s ratings—to be a standout for petite back sleepers, and it serves all other sizes and positions very well. The Dream scores well for durability, too, so you can expect to get sound sleep on it for eight to 10 years. If you sleep with a partner, you should feel very little vibration from their movement. CR members give Casper mattresses high marks for comfort and owner satisfaction.
This hybrid mattress is a great value, offering terrific support for petite and average back and side sleepers of all sizes. It lets you change sleep positions without transmitting movement throughout the bed. Despite the budget price, the model has excellent durability. The only sleepers it’s not ideal for are those who exceed 6-foot-2 in height, 220 pounds in weight, and primarily slumber on their sides.
Mattress Toppers
This 3-inch queen-size memory foam mattress topper offers excellent support and a deeper, more cushioned feel than many others. Infused with cooling gel, it helps regulate temperature for a more comfortable night’s sleep. The flippable design adds versatility, though it lacks a cover and corner straps, which may lead to shifting. Temperature-sensitive foam means the topper feels softer when warm and firmer in cooler conditions. Weighing 15 pounds, it provides average warmth retention and a balanced blend of comfort and support.
This 2-inch Tuft & Needle topper offers excellent support and convenience, with a removable polyester cover and consistent firmness. It’s lightweight for its size and adds subtle cushioning without trapping heat. Just be aware that it lacks corner straps and can’t be flipped, which may affect how securely it stays in place.

Dehumidifiers
The medium-capacity Midea MAD35S1QWT is a top performer in our ratings and can remove 35 pints of moisture from the air per day. It excels our water removal, energy efficiency, and convenience tests. It also earns an excellent score for noise, making it one of the quietest models in this category and earning it the title of the highest-scoring dehumidifier. This model is equipped with a digital display, a built-in water pump, and a timer.
For smaller spaces, if quiet is a main consideration, check out the Midea MAD20S1QWT. It’s more silent than any model in our ratings while earning standout scores for water removal, convenience, and humidistat accuracy. It’s relatively energy-efficient and includes some nice features, such as a timer and an auto-restart function that turns the machine back on to its previous settings after a power outage. It also comes with a hose to divert water to a drain. Midea’s dehumidifiers received a very favorable rating for reliability and a midlevel rating for owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys.
Humidifiers
The Babymoov Hygro (+) is the highest-rated humidifier for small rooms in our evaluation, and for good reason. It’s quiet, energy-efficient, and produces high moisture output. It comes with a humidistat that controls the humidity level and seven different colors of night light.
The low-priced, ultrasonic Levoit Classic 300S can humidify a room of up to 505 square feet, which earns it a solid rating in our output test. It aces other evaluations too. It has a variety of features including automatic shut-off, a digital humidity display more accurate than those of most competitors, and the option to diffuse aromas. It’s been as low as $64, but this is the best discount we’ve seen in a few months.
If you’re looking for a small, inexpensive humidifier, the Vicks VUL525 is a great choice. It doesn’t come with many frills, but it’s quiet and produces a substantial amount of moisture. With its 0.5-gallon tank, you can enjoy cool mist for up to 24 hours. The humidifier comes with a long power cord of over 70 inches. It’s currently selling at the lowest price it’s been for the past six months.
Small Kitchen Appliances
The last time we saw a deal this good on the Instant Vortex Slim 140-3100-01 was also around the winter holidays last year. This model earned very good scores across the board in our ease of use, ease of cleaning, and noise tests. It has pre-programmed settings for specific foods and a reheat function. Like many other air fryers, this model’s actual capacity (4.9 quarts) falls well short of the manufacturer’s claimed capacity of 6 quarts, something to consider if you’re expecting to cook for a crowd.
Owners of Cuisinart coffee makers report excellent owner satisfaction with their machines, and you can expect a good-tasting cup from the Cuisinart DCC-3400 12-cup Programmable Thermal coffee maker. It receives an excellent score in our tests for brew performance, an indicator of the best taste. However, our testers did find it unwieldy to handle and pour from, something that people with hand strength or dexterity issues might want to be mindful of. We’ve seen this coffee maker hover at around this price a few times in the past year, but it’s a deal worth snapping up if you’re in the market for a coffee maker.
We haven’t seen a deal this good on the CR Recommended Vitamix 5200 since last holiday shopping season. This pricey model demonstrates excellent performance in our purée and icy drink tests, as well as in our tough durability tests. It’s also very good at crushing ice, achieving a snowcone-like consistency. As a brand, Vitamix has excellent predicted reliability and owner satisfaction, meaning owners are likely to recommend their blender to friends and family. This model comes with a plastic jar, a tamper, and cord storage.

Clothes Steamers
CHI Handheld Garment Steamer
This handheld steamer is a great option if you need something for travel because it’s lightweight, about the size and shape of a flat iron (great for packing), and you can use regular old tap water. It offers 8 minutes of steaming with a manual steam button on the handle, and it was the fastest steamer to heat up in our lab test, ready to go after 40 seconds. Our evaluator recommended using a spray bottle to dampen any especially deep wrinkles to help the steamer get the job done. It was $5 less recently, but this is still a good price for the convenience.
Packing Cubes
Bagail 8Set Packing Cubes
The Bagail 8Set Packing Cubes won CR’s evaluator over with the sheer number and variety of cubes it offers. In addition to three packing cubes (medium, large, and extra large) that have mesh on the top panels to help you identify the contents inside quickly, it also comes with two zipper bags, a cosmetics bag, a shoe bag, and a drawstring bag that you can use to separate your dirty laundry. The extra organizational features were ultimately what gained Bagail the edge over the other packing cubes CR tried.
Veken Packing Cubes
Veken Packing Cubes provide great bang for your buck, though they are a few dollars more than we’ve seen recently. This set has the largest capacity among the cubes we tried, and you get eight different ones to stay organized: four small, medium, large, and extra large, a laundry bag, a shoe bag, a toiletries bag, and an accessories bag. The laundry bag, in particular, is on the larger side, which can be a real asset when you’re on a longer trip.
Vacuum Storage Bags
Cozy Essential Vacuum Storage Bags
The Cozy Essential Vacuum Storage Bags come in various combo packs. This set includes 20 bags, with four each of these sizes: jumbo, large, medium, small, and travel roll-up. Our evaluator liked that they were easy to both pump and compress, and the variety of sizes offers a lot of convenience for travel and storage.
Magic Bag Instant Space Saver
If you’re looking to store your winter clothes, vacuum storage bags can be a great way to get them out of the way without taking up a ton of space. And this set of three from MagicBag could be a good option, especially for under $10. While these bags did require a bigger, more physical effort to seal, our evaluator noted that they didn’t have caps on the valves, which made it easier to use them overall. And with the zipper, one side is blue and the other is yellow—it turns green when it’s closed properly.
Label Makers
Phomemo M110 Label Maker
The Phomemo M110 is the bigger, bulkier version of the Phomemo D30, which we also evaluated and liked. The M110 offers a bit more flexibility with the size of the label you’re creating. It uses the same app, and has a wide variety of fonts, styles, and images, with quick creation and easy label cutting. Its size, compared with the smaller Phomemo, makes it a bit less portable, and its alignment isn’t as precise when it comes to cutting the label exactly on the cut line compared with other label printers. But it’s still a solid option.
Garbage Disposals
The 1.25-horsepower Frigidaire FF13DISPC1 continuous-feed garbage disposal excelled in our tests, quickly and (fairly) quietly grinding scraps into small particles that won’t cause clogs. The 13-pound disposal comes with a 10-year warranty, a removable splash guard, and a plug-in power cord. Its magnetic ring prevents utensils from falling inside, and antimicrobial protection guards against odors.
Tools & Yard Care
The Ego CS1611 is a battery-powered model that performed well in our chainsaw tests, excelling in terms of cutting speed, ease of use, and handling. It features a 16-inch bar, includes a 2.5-amp-hour battery and charger, and comes with a 5-year warranty. The price at Amazon is now about $10 to $15 less than at other retailers, as of last week.
This is a great deal on one of our highest-performing impact drivers, meant for heavy-duty jobs. The 24-volt Flex FX1351-2A delivers plenty of power, lasts sufficiently long on a single charge, and then recharges quickly. It’s not the lightest tool at 3.8 pounds, or the quietest, but it’s an excellent pick if you’re looking for a tool powerful enough to efficiently tackle big projects.
If you need a leaf blower for light-duty work, the Worx WG585 can move leaves and other light debris quickly and with ease. The leaf blower itself is also light, at just over 6 pounds. If you’ve invested in other 40-volt tools from Worx, now’s a good time to add a leaf blower to your arsenal. This is the lowest price we’ve seen in at least a year.
The Greenworks GPW3001 is an electric pressure washer that did well in our tests for both cleaning and ease of use, and it was much quieter than most gas models. It features a relatively low and flat design, which can enhance stability, and comes with a 35-foot power cord and a 25-foot hose.
The Greenworks 2600602 packs a serious punch for such a small tool. At a mere 15 pounds, it can go places you’d never bring your full-sized snow blower, like up a flight of stairs or onto an elevated deck. That makes it the perfect companion to a larger machine or a good fit for anyone in an area that seldom sees more than a few inches of snow.
The Ego ST1502SA is a battery trimmer that edges and trims like the best gas models, and it does a solid job of clearing through tall grass and weeds. In our tests, it ran for a decent 26 minutes on a charge. At 10 pounds, it’s extremely light. Plus, it sells for hundreds less than other highly-rated models while providing similar performance. We’ve seen the price on this model drop to $159 before, but it’s still a good deal now. And if you want to invest in a suite of high-scoring outdoor lawn tools that use interchangeable batteries, Ego is a strong bet.
Washers and Dryers
If you need a very good, efficient washer, the Kenmore 42273 is a great option. At nearly 20 percent off, this metallic silver model performs well, but its white-finish cousin, available at an even steeper discount ($849.99), also stands out. Although it’s slightly taller and deeper than standard-sized front-loaders, this stackable Energy Star-certified model features a 45-cubic-foot drum (enough space for large loads) as well as auto detergent dispensers, and custom cycles for extra rinse, stain-fighting steam, hot-water sanitize, kidswear, express wash, and a machine self-clean setting.
If sleek washers are your style, consider LG’s Signature WM9900HSA front-loader. Recently introduced, it offers a minimalist brushed-steel design with an intuitive LCD touchscreen, generous 5.8 cubic-foot capacity, 26 wash programs, and AI technology that automatically detects fabrics and load size and selects the ideal settings for both the washer and its companion dryer. It also has an auto dispenser that releases detergent for up to 36 loads before refilling and can be operated remotely through its app. The price on this machine was $200 less for Labor Day, but this is still a good buy.
The LG DLGX5501W offers great performance and some nice extras at a moderate price, and it’s only $30 more than its best price. It scores admirably in our tests for drying performance, convenience, and noise, and offers a steam option, extended tumble, and WiFi capability—and it’s our top-rated dryer. Its stainless steel drum has a 7.4-cubic-foot capacity. In our surveys, CR members rank LG gas dryers at the top for both reliability and owner satisfaction.
