Sleep Number ClimateCool mattress, Vizio VQM65C-10 TV, and Snailax Shiatsu Back Massager With Heat Graphic: Consumer Reports, Manufacturers

Labor Day weekend is upon us, and if you’ve been waiting for a holiday to make a big purchase, this is your chance. This is always a great time for big-ticket items like new mattresses or large appliances, and there are other opportunities to get good discounts as well.

I track the prices of everything we test, so I’ve rounded up the best offers available for the holiday weekend on everything from the big staples to the unexpected. But don’t forget that there are even bigger sales just around the corner, so if you don’t need something right now, holding out a little longer could help you save even more. Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale typically comes in October, and after that we’ll have Black Friday and Cyber Monday to look forward to, all of which tend to have better prices than other sales.

These are just some of the highlights of what’s on sale for the Fourth of July. If you don’t see what you want here, check our Deals hub.

Grills

This high-end midsized Fuego F27S grill hits almost every mark, and the price has dropped $125 since the start of the month. It rates very good at producing even heat, preheating quickly, offering a wide range of high and low temperatures, and creating indirect heat. It’s less likely than many other models to flare up. Notable features include recessed folding shelves and burners with a long warranty. (They’re the parts that are replaced the most.) An unimpressive rating for convenience is one of its few blemishes.

Still undecided?
CR's expert guidance and unbiased reviews can help you purchase with confidence.

The Coleman RoadTrip 285 has everything you need (sans propane) for an all-in-one grilling experience,, no matter where you are. Even better, it’s $60 less than its Memorial Day price. This toteable gas grill’s integrated stand folds up like an ironing board with wheels, so you can roll it to your ideal cooking location with ease. There are also collapsible side tables to keep tools and condiments within reach. All these factors add to its unbeatable convenience. As for grill performance, it heats evenly enough in CR tests for a competent cooking experience, and with three burners (20,000 BTU overall), you can dial in the perfect temperature with more than acceptable accuracy.

The Kamado Joe Classic is on sale for $50 less than it was for Memorial Day, making this an opportune time to hit that buy button. It’s our top-rated ceramic kamado and comes packed with features, including a few that make it a stellar smoker. It comes with an elevated rack and a heat deflector for smoking meats, both of which make it easy to slow-cook, say, a brisket without drying it out. It also has adjustable dampers and a locking lid, which help control the flow of air so that you can maintain a low and slow smoke for hours on end. It excelled at slow-cooking a pork shoulder in our tests and at cooking a thin-crust pizza over high heat, earning it an Excellent rating for cooking performance.

The three-burner Napoleon Freestyle 365 F365DPGT delivers strong all-around performance. The grill earns top scores for indirect cooking. The wide temperature range and ability to preheat quickly and cook evenly are impressive as well. Our members like their Napoleon grills, too. As a brand, Napoleon receives strong ratings for reliability and owner satisfaction for its gas grills in CR’s latest member surveys.

Outdoor Essentials

Pizza Oven

BakerStone Pizza Oven Attachment

BakerStone Pizza Oven Attachment

Who says you have to drop hundreds on a trendy freestanding pizza oven to make a perfect pie? If you own a grill, all you need is an attachment like this one from BakerStone. Throw it right onto the grates of your grill. The grill provides the heat, and while we didn’t try this grill-compatible model, we did try the BakerStone with a dedicated gas burner and found we got great results.

The Grand Patio umbrella is one of the more expensive patio umbrellas we tested and one of the larger options in our ratings. It got above-average scores in CR’s tests for ease of use and assembly, but it’s a little less rigid than higher-scoring models.

Lawn Care

The Ego LB7654, now $25 less than it was during Memorial Day sales, delivers all-star performance across the board, adept at loosening and sweeping, all in an easy-to-handle package despite weighing 9.9 pounds. In addition, this electric blower comes with a generous five-year warranty. As a brand, Ego battery handheld leaf blowers are very reliable and earn a top mark for owner satisfaction in our latest member surveys.

This Ego battery string trimmer can take on heavy-duty jobs and with precision. It trims evenly in a single pass, edges well, and can cut down tall grass and weeds aggressively—all while being easy to handle. Be mindful of its weight: at over 12 pounds, it’s on the heavier side of the battery models we’ve tested. But if you have other tools in this Ego 56-volt platform, this is a good sale price for a great tool.

Mattresses

Back sleepers of all sizes will find superior support with this Sleep Number mattress—and the price is $700 less than it was for July Fourth, making it one of the most impressive Labor Day sales. Side sleeper support isn’t shabby either. In addition to being solid, stable, and sturdy, it’s also an adjustable mattress in multiple ways. You can customize the firmness of this top performer, adjust its positioning if you opt for an adjustable frame, and modify its temperature settings. Say goodbye to night sweats and restless sleep, and hello to a breathable surface with top-tier comfort, according to CR members.

Brooklyn Bedding has mattresses, pillows, mattress toppers, sheets, and more. CR has tested a handful of the company’s products, including the Signature Hybrid mattress, which is 30 percent off with the code LABORDAY30, its best price. This model is an exceptional choice for petite side sleepers; it got top marks in that category. And individuals with other body types and sleep styles may also be satisfied with it, as it scored above average in all our other tests.

Kitchen Tools

The Instant Vortex Slim air fryer, which typically sells for $120, is at a new low price thanks to this on-page coupon. It’s an all-around strong performer, with intuitive controls and quiet operation, and we found it pretty easy to clean, too. At 11 inches in width and 12 inches in height, it won’t be overly obtrusive on your countertop, though it is fairly deep (18 inches). It has a measured capacity of 4.9 quarts, five cooking modes (air fry, broil, bake, roast, and reheat), and one-touch programs to cook a range of foods, including wings, vegetables, potatoes, cookies, and more. It comes with a 1-year warranty.

The Keurig K-Supreme is back down to the same low we saw for Prime Day. It’s a top performer when it comes to first-cup speed, size consistency, and convenience. It also delivers subsequent cups quickly after the first, important if you plan to serve multiple cups. Its settings let you easily adjust the brew’s strength. Like many K-Cup machines, this coffee maker’s features include auto-shutoff, a removable reservoir, and a height-adjustable drip tray.

The 6-quart 1,350-watt DeLonghi Livenza is another multi-cooker without a pressure-cook function, so fast cooking isn’t its promise. But its slow-cooking mode is top-notch, with the model earning a strong rating in that test. It also earns top-notch scores for sautéing and steaming, both tests that few models ace.

This cooker has a baking function, too, which we tested with mixed results. Our chocolate chip bars were nice and chewy on top but burnt on the bottom around the corners of the pot. Plus, this cooker’s oblong shape is useful for bulky roasts and racks of ribs.

Vacuums and Floor Care

The Tineco Floor One S3 Smart Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner Mop can pick up dry debris such as rice, cereal, and sand with aplomb. It’s also very good at cleaning wet spills and removing stains. Another plus: it boasts one of the longest run times among the models we’ve seen, so you won’t have to stop and recharge the combo vacuum-mop in the middle of your cleaning. It’s now $30 less than the lowest price we’ve seen in months.

The Shark PowerDetect HZ4002 does an admirable job of cleaning bare floors and does almost as well on carpet. It features an auto-detect mode that adjusts the brush roll speed to the surface, transitioning efficiently between the two. It can be pulled apart for compact storage, allowing it to stand on its own and take up minimal space. This model even delivers powerful suction in reverse for more efficient cleaning in both a forward and backward motion. We’ve seen it sell at lower prices this year, but this is still a pretty good discount.

The GorFanty 10-in-1 MultiPurpose, which typically retails for $100, hit an all-time low price on Prime Day and has stayed at that price. It is an excellent cleaner with a decent steam rate. It takes only 20 seconds for the steam mop to produce steam, and its steam can last for around 10 minutes on its maximum setting. We like that you can adjust the length of the mop to accommodate people of different heights. The mop comes with plenty of accessories, including attachments for cleaning tile grout, clothes, furniture, windows, and carpets.

Tech

Vizio is a brand now owned by Walmart. The 65-inch Vizio VQM65C-10 QLED TV performs well overall in our picture-quality tests, but not as well in HDR performance. It’s a smart TV running the Vizio OS platform, formerly known as SmartCast. It has WiFi 6 internet and features the company’s QuickFit mounting system, which allows you to easily attach a Vizio soundbar directly to the TV with no gap. It’s at a fairly low price for a 4K TV this size.

Have a teen who loves to run outside? The Bose Ultra Opens are a unique option that let them stay aware of your surroundings. They hook on your ear, just above the lobe, kind of like a cuff-style earring. They sound surprisingly good, too, once you get the placement just right. And it’s totally easy to hear things around you with a clarity that the "transparency" mode of most earbuds can’t match.

The Asus Vivobook 16 isn’t flashy, but it covers the basics really well, especially for this price. It gets top marks for portability and ergonomics, making it a great pick for students or remote workers who value comfort and a lightweight build. Performance and display are average, but with a roomy 16-inch screen and solid all-around versatility, it’s a strong value at this discount.

Large Appliances

The 33-inch GE GNE25JYKFS is $150 more than the best price we’ve seen in the last 12 months, matching its July Fourth price. It’s a strong performer with a ton of useful features. In our tests, it receives excellent scores for thermostat performance and temperature uniformity, great scores for energy efficiency and ease of use, and satisfactory scores for its noise output (it’s not the quietest fridge but also not the loudest), icemaker performance, and crisper drawer performance. Its many features include an internal water dispenser, a built-in water filter, spillproof shelves, uniquely adjustable shelves that you can raise and lower without removing food, split shelves for better organization, and digital temperature controls.

One of the most budget-friendly top-load agitators in our tests, the LG WT7005CW is now the best price we’ve seen in nearly a year. This eco-friendly Green Choice washer isn’t the gentlest on clothes, but it conserves energy and water. It’s among the quietest models in our tests and causes little to no vibration, meaning it won’t disturb you with rumbling. The cycle time is 70 minutes using the normal-wash, heavy-soil setting. Shorten it by using the normal soil setting whenever possible.

The Samsung NE63A6751SS is $100 less than it was last week, bringing it back to the best price we’ve seen this year. It lands just behind the other double-oven ranges we’ve tested in overall performance but still has plenty to offer—and it’s reasonably priced, too. This range scores admirably in just about every test, notably earning top ratings for low heat, baking, and oven capacity. Among other handy features, there’s a convertible oven that can be partitioned to work as either a single- or double-oven model, a convection mode in both ovens, and an air-fry setting.

Self Care

Chair Massager

Comfier Vibration Back Massager

Comfier Vibration Back Massager

The Comfier Vibration Back Massager is the least expensive chair massager we tested and a decent budget pick, if you’re willing to compromise on a few important features. The biggest difference between this one and the others is that it only provides vibration and optional heat—there are no shiatsu rollers to work out those neck or back kinks. It’s simple, easy to use, and the mat’s pad itself is very soft. This is a good option if you prefer light relaxation, making it nice for everyday use.

Flat Iron

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools Pro Artist Black Gold Evolve Ionic Salon Hair Flat Iron

Hot Tools hair styling tools are a common sight at hair salons, and for good reason. Our evaluators found that this flat iron heated up fast and was easy to use. It has variable heat settings to give users more control, and the plates are slightly longer than most straighteners, a feature that could be useful for styling longer hair. It’s important to note that the temperature consistency isn’t reliable and could vary by as much as 20 degrees from the set temperature during use. It has a 2-hour window before it automatically shuts off, so you’ll want to remember to unplug it after every use.

Massager

Nektek Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager

Nektek Shiatsu Neck and Back Massager

This massager, made famous on TikTok, falls in the middle of the pack in terms of pricing, compared with the other models we evaluated. The reviewer found that the nodes pressed into their neck in an uncomfortable way, but two others who tried it loved it, so you might find the massager is just right or not right at all (but don’t worry—there’s a 30-day return window on Amazon). However, when it came to heat, this massager really shone. It reaches temperatures of 109° F. You can use this massager on various body parts, and it even comes with a car adapter, making it a boon for road trips.

Fitness

Each dumbbell in the Core Home Fitness Adjustable Dumbbell Set is automatically balanced because of the easy, one-handed adjustment of simply twisting the handle. Like the NordicTrack and PowerBlock sets below, the Core Home dumbbell comes with a good handgrip, and each dumbbell is shorter at lighter weights. Still, we found that each can be harder to replace in the cradle in some settings. At heavier settings, the dumbbells didn’t come out of their cradle without holding the cradle down.

If you want a way to do cardio at home, an elliptical gives you an aerobic workout without the impact of running. The NordicTrack Air Glide 14i is CR Recommended for its performance in our lab tests. It did fall short in heart rate accuracy, but you can always wear a smartwatch or fitness tracker for more accurate readings if you want to track it.

The NordicTrack Commercial 2450 treadmill performs very well in testing across ergonomics and user safety, and its wide range of exercises supports both low- and high-intensity workouts. A subscription is required to access any preset programs, though. Its frame comes with a 10-year warranty; its parts and repairs, a 1-year warranty.
