During Prime Big Deal Days, we'll highlight the best lightning deals, which often include some of the steepest discounts on popular products.

Lightning Deals—sudden, fleeting, and limited in quantity—usually bring the steepest discounts on hot products during events like Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days and Prime Day, with the caveat being that you need an Amazon Prime subscription. During Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event, which kicks off today, we will be surfacing all the best lightning deals on top-rated items, with frequent updates to this roundup as these limited discounts come and go.

There are also great deals under $100 during Amazon’s sale, and likewise for those looking for deals under $50 and $25. Plus, we’re constantly drilling into deals on top products from all the major retailers, including Best Buy, Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowe’s. And you can head over to our Deals hub for more.

If your goal is reference-library levels of silence, Bose’s top-of-the-line noise-canceling headphones are hard to beat. If you get a good fit—some of our testers with larger heads and larger ears had trouble—the Ultras do an admirable job of keeping the outside world at bay. Sonically, they’re fine, offering strong bass, though the midrange is just a bit anemic. All in all, they’re easy to live with, and they don’t go on sale often, so if you aim to silence an Airbus A350 or a commuter train, you might want to take advantage of this price.

This is a stellar deal. If you’re into the Plum colorway, now is the time to strike.

    KYY Portable Monitor

    KYY Portable Monitor

The least expensive option we evaluated, this portable monitor from KYY connected easily to  Mac, Windows, Android, iPad, and Switch devices and uses a scroll wheel device for accessing the OSD settings. However, on the KYY, colors aren’t as vibrant as others we looked at; rich reds look brownish, for example. The folio cover on the KYY doesn’t fold correctly, either, due to weak magnets. Still, if you’re looking for a utilitarian device for extra desktop space and don’t want to spend a lot of money, the KYY Portable Monitor is worth considering.

    Cabeau Evolution S3 Neck Pillow

    Cabeau Evolution S3 Neck Pillow

If you prefer a travel pillow that offers soft, cushy support, the Cabeau Evolution S3 Neck Pillow could be the one for you. The memory foam pillow has raised sides near the jawline to prevent your head from bobbing left and right. There’s also an adjustable clasp in the front for you to modify how tightly you want the pillow to encircle your neck. While one evaluator enjoyed the snugger fit, it was too snug for another. Though this pillow is bulky and heavier than many of the other pillows we tried, you can roll it into the travel case that it comes with. However, the label in the case warns that you shouldn’t store the pillow inside for more than one month, as it may not return to its original shape afterward.

Brushed microfiber isn’t as breathable as cotton, but for those who don’t find synthetic fibers to be a hang-up, this Mellanni sheet set is a top-notch pick. It offers a softer feel than most cotton options and is pretty resistant to wrinkling, and you can expect a great fit even after a year of laundering. You can also expect to have this set in rotation for a while, because it does pretty well in our strength test. The one area where these bedsheets miss the mark a bit is in our fit test. Though the packaging claims “deep pockets,” this set is best suited for mattresses with a depth of 10 inches or less.

Prices will vary depending on size and color; the Lightning Deal is on the white colorway.

The Ego LB7654 delivers all-star performance across the board, adept at loosening and sweeping, all in an easy-to-handle package despite weighing 9.9 pounds. In addition, this electric blower comes with a generous five-year warranty. As a brand, Ego battery handheld leaf blowers are highly reliable and consistently earn top marks for owner satisfaction in our latest member surveys.

    Veken Pet Fountain

    Veken Pet Fountain

This is a great, budget-friendly option if you’re not sure your pets will adapt from a bowl to a fountain. You can try it out without investing too much (and you can always invest more in an upgrade later on if you want). The Veken water fountain, consisting of five parts, was intuitive for our tester to assemble, and the carbon and foam filter replacements are low cost as well,1 at $10 for a four-pack or $24 for 16. It was the noisiest option, but that didn’t deter the tester’s pets. And the flower can be removed for a low-profile bubbler effect rather than a raised fountain.

Doqaus Ice Cube Trays, 4-pack and container

Doqaus Ice Cube Trays, 4-pack and container

The Doqaus’s ice cube trays feature plastic frames with silicone bases, making it easy to pop out the rectangular cubes with rounded corners. There were no stray ice shards or breakage when our evaluator popped off the clear plastic lid and extracted a couple of cubes. If you’re sensitive to taste, take note: Although minimal, the silicone in this tray imparts some flavor. This version, currently on sale at Amazon, includes a pack of four ice cube trays and a container for storing extra ice.

The Greater Goods AccuCheck Digital Bathroom Scale features a glass surface with rounded corners, and performs well in basic functions: It’s accurate and consistent, and easy to use. It has a weight capacity of 400 pounds and takes four AAA batteries. For a simple scale under $30 without any smart functions, you can’t go wrong with this CR Recommended model.

    Flamingo Original Razor, 13-pack

    Flamingo Original Razor, 13-pack

The Flamingo razor has an exceptionally comfortable grip, according to our evaluators, who noted that it’s very comfortable to hold. The five blades didn’t tug, and while the large head didn’t get in the way of a close shave, it did make it a bit difficult to manage around curved areas of the body (for example, the knees). The Flamingo razor comes with a wall holder that attaches via a suction cup. It doesn’t have a blade cover. You can, however, buy razor covers elsewhere if this is a deal breaker, but we didn’t test any.

This wireless model from JBL delivers acceptable sound quality and top-notch active noise reduction. These earphones have an isolating design and an ambient sound monitoring feature; they will provide some muffling and electronic canceling of external noises and also reduce the amount of sound that escapes from the earpieces. As such, they are best for those who want highly portable earphones that reduce the amount of noise they hear from their surroundings, or don’t want the sound from the earpieces to disturb others.

    BedJet 3 Climate Comfort System

    BedJet 3 Climate Comfort System

The BedJet is a tube placed at the end of a bed that blows air from a fan and offers a lightweight, double-layer sheet (sold separately) to help distribute the air, but you can also simply use the hose on its own. Because it uses just a fan to cool, the BedJet’s ability to lower a bed’s temperature depends on the room’s temperature. In our tests, it earns only a mediocre rating for cooling. But set to warming mode (like the air from a dryer), it garners an excellent rating for heating. This was also the noisiest bed cooler that we tested, especially at the higher fan speeds. (It sounded like a typical fan.) It has only a remote, so, like most mattress toppers, you can’t schedule it to cool or heat.

Catit Flower Plastic Cat Fountain, 100-Ounce

Catit Flower Plastic Cat Fountain, 100-Ounce

“I have a deep fear that my cat doesn’t drink enough water and will end up with kidney issues,” says Stephanie Davis, a senior marketing manager at CR. If you’re a cat parent who shares that concern, a water fountain may be the answer. “She won’t drink still water from a bowl and wasn’t keen on one other fountain before this—the filters are also easy to change for this one—but she loves this one for some reason.”

Utopia Bedding Comforter Duvet Insert Utopia Bedding Comforter Duvet Insert

Utopia Bedding Comforter Duvet Insert Utopia Bedding Comforter Duvet Insert

At under $30, the Utopia Bedding duvet is sturdy, with a similar construction to higher-priced duvets. However, while pricier duvets tend to have a natural cotton shell to help with breathability, the Utopia Bedding duvet has a siliconized polyester fill, meaning it doesn’t allow for airflow like natural fibers do. The comforter doesn’t claim to be hypoallergenic. Still, it’s soft, airy, and lightweight, and allows for easy movement.

Caraway 5-Ply, Stainless Steel Sauce Pan (3 Qt)

Caraway’s stainless steel cookware set earns solid marks across the board in our tests. While we’ve tested the whole set, if you’re looking for just a saucepan, this deal is not to be missed. The complete set excels in all four of our key cooking tests: cooking evenness, simmering, nonstick food release, and speed of heating. It also performs very well in our nonstick durability tests.
