Cookware
A full cookware set for less than $100 is a steal already, but it’s especially so when it’s as impressive a performer as the Blue Diamond Classic Diamond-Infused Ceramic nonstick cookware set. It comes with two frying pans, a saucepan, a sauté pan, a stockpot, and two cooking utensils. It’s advertised as oven-safe to 850° F and dishwasher-safe, though manufacturers tend to say hand-washing helps nonstick cookware last longer. It performs well in all of our cookware tests except for handle sturdiness, where less-expensive cookware generally falls short.
At its list price, the Hestan ProBond Professional Clad SET 25 is the most expensive in CR’s ratings, so at more than $200 off, now’s the time to buy if you’ve been wanting a high-end stainless steel cookware set with a lifetime warranty. This set comes with three pots, three pans, and four lids, is dishwasher-safe and oven-safe to 500° F. Like all stainless steel cookware, it’s induction cooktop compatible.
The celebrity-chef-named GreenPan Bobby Flay Chef Series Uncoated Stainless Steel 10" and 12" set is a top scorer in our stainless steel frying pan ratings, earning impressive scores across all of our tests. And at its sale price, you’re getting a great deal, especially since there are two. The pan itself is oven-safe to 600° F (the lid is oven-safe to 425° F), it’s dishwasher-safe, and induction-cooktop compatible. Its handle temperature while cooking isn’t the best, though, so you might want to keep a potholder handy just in case.
If you’re looking to seriously upgrade your frying pan, consider the Hestan ProBond Professional Clad. It’s dishwasher-safe, oven-safe to 600° F, and has a lifetime warranty. It earns impressive scores all around in our tests for cooking evenness, handle temperature, handle sturdiness, and ease of cleaning (the latter being a concern among many who are new to cooking in stainless steel). However, this pan is on the small side, with a diameter of just 8.5 inches.
The ceramic-coated nonstick Our Place Perfect Pot is a popular Dutch oven, and it’s a top performer in our lab tests where we bake bread, simmer sauces, clean, and evaluate how quickly and evenly each Dutch oven heats. The one area where this pot scores less well is handle temperature, so you’ll want to keep a potholder handy if you choose this model. Overall, it’s an attractive and versatile piece of cookware for your kitchen, and you can get it now for 40 percent off.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to add style and versatility to your kitchen with a colorful, heavy-duty piece of enameled cookware. Like others of its kind, the Lodge Essential Enamel Cast Iron Dutch Oven is heavy, weighing in at 13 pounds. It performs admirably in our tests for bread baking, cooking evenness, and heating speed, and we found it a breeze to clean. It’s oven-safe to 500° F, and unlike uncoated cast iron, it’s dishwasher-safe. While well-known, Lodge brand cookware is generally more affordable than other brands, and is especially so at this sale price. Bonus: You get to choose from 17 different colors at this discount.
Air Fryers
The Instant Vortex Plus 140-3079-01 is a versatile air fryer fit for a small household (we measured its capacity at 3 quarts). It offers a digital display and functions that include bake, broil, reheat, roast, and dehydrate. Its parts are also dishwasher-safe. This air fryer was on sale for less than this leading up to the winter holidays, but if you’re looking for an inexpensive air fryer now, this might be the right choice for you.
You can toast up a grilled cheese sandwich, broil a steak, and much more in the Typhur Dome 2 AF03, a large model with a 5-quart capacity. Its basket material is made of ceramic nonstick coating, a plus if you want to avoid PTFE (better known as Teflon). Our testers find it quiet and easy to clean, but its controls aren’t the easiest to use. This air fryer was cheaper this past holiday season, but if you can’t wait until the next one and want a larger-capacity air fryer, now might be the time to buy.
The Cuisinart AIR-200 air fryer features a digital display, a viewing window, and a shake reminder to ensure your food is evenly crispy. It can roast, bake, broil, and keep your food warm, plus it’s dishwasher safe. We did see this air fryer at a lower price this past Black Friday, but it’s still a good deal right now.
Consumer Reports engineers find the controls on the Instant Vortex Plus 140-3089-01 exceptionally easy to use, plus it has a handy viewing window so you don’t have to open it to check on your food. It also features an air filter to help reduce cooking odors. This model has frequently dropped to this price or slightly lower in the last year, but it’s still a good deal for Prime Day.
The NuWave Brio Plus 37401 claims to be PFAS-free (its basket has a nonstick ceramic coating). We found it easy to clean, with easy-to-use controls. It only air fries at up to 400° F, though, so check the packaging of your favorite frozen foods to make sure that’s hot enough. This air fryer comes in five colors, so you can pick one that complements your kitchen decor. We’ve seen this model for less ahead of the winter holidays, but at this price, it’s still a great deal.
The Chefman RJ38-2T air fryer is a small, easy-to-use, basic model with a digital display and a reminder to shake your food for even crispness. After making chicken nuggets and fries in this air fryer, we found it easy to clean. It’s also whisper-quiet. We’ve seen this air fryer dip to this sale price before, but at under $40, it’s a steal given its performance in our tests.
The Ninja Foodi DZ550 is a large air fryer fit for a crowd. It has two separate baskets for cooking two different foods at the same time, and we measured its capacity at 7.4 quarts. It earns impressive scores in our lab tests for its controls, convenience, and cleaning, but it may be on the noisy side. And it weighs a hefty 19 pounds, so you may want to leave this air fryer on the counter. At about 30 percent off, this is a great buy if you need a large air fryer for your household.
Coffee Makers
Cuisinart makes several top-performing drip coffee makers in Consumer Reports’ ratings, including the Cuisinart PerfecTemp 14 Cup Programmable DCC-3200. It impressed our testers in our brew performance tests, meaning you can expect a great-tasting cup (as long as your beans are fresh). It’s also simple to clean and convenient to use, and the carafes are easy to hold and pour from. We haven’t seen a deal this good since last holiday season.
The Hamilton Beach Advanced 5-in-1 (49965F) dual coffee maker makes both drip coffee and pod coffee. It receives a top score in our drip coffee brew performance tests, which means you’re likely to get a full pot that tastes great. It comes with brew-strength controls and a small-batch setting, and it’s generally easy to use. It does a little less well when it comes to its pod coffee capabilities. While it makes a quick first cup, subsequent cups may not be served up as quickly as you’d expect. Especially if getting the best flavor in a drip brew is your priority, this model at this price is worth considering.
Ninja, as a coffee maker brand, earns an impressive score for owner satisfaction in CR’s member surveys, and the Ninja Specialty CM401 coffee maker could be one reason. It’s a feature-packed machine with programmability and numerous options for customizing brew strength. It can brew drip coffee into a single cup or a whole pot. This machine also comes with a fold-away milk frother for fancier coffee drinks.
The Keurig K-Supreme is a top performer when it comes to first-cup speed, size consistency, and convenience. It also delivers subsequent cups quickly after the first, important if you plan to serve multiple cups. Its settings let you easily adjust the brew’s strength. Like many K-Cup machines, this coffee maker’s features include auto-shutoff, a removable reservoir, and a height-adjustable drip tray. The price on this coffee maker has swung up and down all year, but it’s at an unbeatable price now, so it’s definitely worth considering.
You can expect a speedy cup from the Nespresso Vertuo Lattissima single-serve coffee maker. It’s convenient and has controls for brew size and strength. Temperatures aren’t the most consistent from cup to cup in our tests, though that may not matter much if you plan to add hot foam from the built-in milk frother. We’ve seen this coffee maker at this deal price before, but prices may swing even lower during Prime Day, so this one is worth keeping an eye on if you really want to save.
Blenders
Immersion blenders are great for small blending tasks such as blending soups, smoothing gravy, and more. Plus, they’re small enough to fit in a drawer. The GE G8H1AASSPSS immersion blender is a highly rated model in CR’s lab tests, earning impressive scores in our soup purée and yogurt blending tests. It comes with a whisk and chopper, has two claimed speeds, and a one-year warranty.
The Ninja Professional Plus Kitchen System BN801 may be noisy—most blenders are—but if you operate in short bursts, you may not mind considering how well it performs in our icy drink, puree, and ice crush tests. It’s also one of the most durable we’ve tested. If you don’t have a Vitamix-caliber budget, this blender could be the perfect option for you, especially at this price.
Vitamix is one of the most popular blender brands and consistently high scorers in our tests. They’re generally pretty pricey, so when a model like the Vitamix Propel 750 is on sale, consider grabbing one, especially if you’re looking for a blender that will last for years to come. In our lab tests, we found that the Propel 750 performs well for making icy drinks and pureeing vegetables into soup. At more than $200 off, it’s quite a deal.
Food Processors
Judging from its name, Ninja probably wants you to know that the Ninja Foodi Ultimate System SS401 is more than a standard food processor. In addition to a reversible shredding and slicing blade, this high-scoring model comes with a dough blade for kneading cookie or bread dough and a two-cup smoothie maker. As a food processor, we find this Ninja to be exceptionally quiet and great at tasks like chopping, shredding, slicing, and grating. This model has a 9-cup capacity, and is available now at a considerable discount.
Cuisinart introduced the food processor to the U.S. in the early 1970s, and it has been a well-recognized brand ever since. The 720-watt Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY has a generous 14-cup capacity and dishwasher-safe parts. It impressed us with its chopping and slicing ability, and shredded with the best of them. This food processor is lever-operated, a good option for those with impaired dexterity, but at nearly 15 pounds it’s among the heaviest in our ratings. Its generous warranty covers parts for three years and the motor for five. We haven’t seen a price this low on this model in more than a year, so now may be the time to snap one up if you’ve been wanting one.
GE may not be the most popular brand of food processor, but the GE G8P1AASSPSS performs basic food processing tasks admirably, chopping, slicing, and shredding with ease. Plus, it has a generous 12-cup capacity. Like most food processors, it’s not great at puréeing; that’s a task better fit for a blender. Its grating ability could be better, but if you don’t grate a lot of cheese, this food processor may be right for you—especially at this price.
Food Storage Containers
CR’s engineers find that the Rubbermaid Brilliance 18pc Glass Food Storage Container Set of nine lidded glass containers performs admirably in our tests for durability, seal quality, and ease of use. (The pieces range in size from three snack-appropriate 10-ounce boxes to a 64-ounce pack for lots of leftovers.) The rubber gaskets aren’t removable, though, so it may be a little tougher to clean than other sets. However, the containers are dishwasher-safe, freezer-safe, microwave-safe, and oven-safe (not including the lid). And we haven’t seen this set priced this low since last holiday season.
The Instant Brands Snapware 24pc Glass Food Storage Container Set comes with 12 lidded glass containers that perform impressively in our food storage container tests, and for Prime Day it’s at the best price we’ve seen in more than a year. This set comes with round, rectangular, and square containers in large, medium, and small sizes, so there are options if you have a lot of leftovers to freeze or just a few cherries to keep fresh in the fridge. Note that these containers are not oven-safe.
Mixers
Like many hand mixers in our tests, the KitchenAid KHM6118CU 6 Speed earns impressive marks in all of our performance tests, mixing egg whites to fluffy peaks, whipping voluminous whipped cream, and making nicely frothy pancake batter. We also find it pretty easy to use. We’ve seen this mixer price this low several times in the past year, but if you’re in the market for a hand mixer now, this one could be the right choice for you.
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini KSM3316XWH may sound small, but its price is relatively big and it weighs 17 pounds. Still, those drawn to the KitchenAid brand might also choose this model for its excellent results in quickly whipping egg whites into airy peaks, producing whipped cream with good volume and texture, and mixing cake batter to a smooth consistency. This KitchenAid mixer was priced lower than this over the winter holidays, but if you can’t wait until the next holiday season, now might be the time for you to buy one.
The KitchenAid Bowl Lift KSM70 looks good on a counter, and its bowl-lift style fits nicely under upper cabinets. It also operates quietly. Performance-wise, it impressed our testers at mixing cake and pancake batter and whipping egg whites to airy peaks. It also performs well when kneading, a tough task for any mixer. It weighs a hefty 26 pounds and is available in several eye-catching colors (sale prices vary slightly depending on the color). This model is certainly not cheap, but at least it’s cheaper during Prime Day.
The Waring Commercial Luna WSM7L is one of the priciest stand mixers we’ve tested, so when this one goes on sale (especially at half price), you’ll want to consider it if a high end mixer is what you’ve been looking for. This mixer impressed our testers with its ability to whip egg whites to fluffy peaks, make smooth cake batter and thoroughly mix dough. It did less well in our tests making whipped cream and pancake batter, though.
Toaster Ovens
With a temperature range of 120° F to 450° F, the 1,800-watt Breville The Smart Oven BOV800XL does a nice job of baking food and turning out an even batch of medium-brown toast. It’s also better than many other toaster ovens at reheating food. Our testers find it a cinch to operate and easy to clean. Plus, CR members give Breville high praise for reliability and owner satisfaction. It doesn’t toast as quickly as some other models, but if that’s not a big deal to you, at this price, this Breville is worth considering.
The Breville The Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro BOV900BSSUSC is a relatively large toaster oven that does a better job baking than most of the toaster ovens we’ve tested, which is ideal if you want to use a toaster oven instead of your full-sized oven to keep the heat in your kitchen to a minimum. This toaster oven also has a convection bake setting and an air fry setting, and it’s generally simple to operate and easy to clean. Breville toaster ovens aren’t cheap, so it may be worth snapping one up now.
The DeLonghi EO141164M may look like a simple toaster oven, and it’s not among the largest we’ve seen, but it shows commendable performance in our toasting tests. Plus, its dials and push-button controls are a breeze to operate, and it’s easy to clean its interior and exterior. Like many toaster ovens, it’s not the best at reheating, but if that’s not a task you’d use a toaster oven for (maybe a microwave would be better), then this toaster oven might be the right one for you, and it’s a steal at this price.
Of all the toaster ovens in CR’s tests, the Hamilton Beach 31156 performs better at our toasting tests than many, plus it does a solid job at baking. The only area where it delivers a so-so performance is in reheating. It does have a novel design: a bread slot for toasting, like you’d find on a dedicated toaster, with a low oven cavity underneath. This simple model is best suited for people who would use the oven in a limited capacity. At less than $100 on sale, it’s a steal, especially for toast lovers.
Garbage Disposals
Now at 45 percent off its usual price, this ¾-horsepower batch-feed Moen GX Series GXB75C performed impressively in our speed and fineness tests, quietly grinding scraps into small particles that won’t cause clogs. The lightweight disposal is just 11 pounds and measures 14 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 10 inches deep. It features a plug-type electrical connection, and it’s covered by an 8-year warranty.
If you value safety, convenience, and less noise, this Frigidaire FF75DISPB1 batch-feed disposal quietly grinds food only when the drain stopper is in place, reducing the risk of injury. The plug-in, under-sink unit requires no wall switch or additional wiring, making it a good option for a kitchen island. It’s also the least expensive batch-feed model in CR’s ratings. It stood out as one of the most effective models in our grinding and speed tests, powering through scraps, bones, and food waste. The company claims its Bioshield microbial technology protects against food-residue odors and buildup in the disposal. It features a quiet ¾-horsepower motor and a 10-year warranty.
Priced at $235 off, the Waste King L-8000TC is a highly rated batch-feed disposal. Its single-horsepower motor grinds bones into bits like a wood chipper, getting high marks in our tests for fineness and speed (but it is a bit noisy). This model weighs 14 pounds and comes with a plug-in power cord and an EZ-Mount sink connection for simple installation. It has a 10-year warranty.
