Nissan unveiled the half-ton Titan pickup truck at the New York auto show that will be the volume model for the redesigned pickup truck line. This summer, it will join the Titan XD, a version on sale that bridges the light-duty and heavy-duty truck segments.

The Titan will be initially offered as a crew cab, with single cab and king cab versions arriving later. Set on a completely different chassis than the Titan XD, the half-ton is 14.7 inches shorter than the XD and has a 5.6-liter V8 gasoline engine. A V6 will be available at a later.

The Titan XD is sold with a Cummins diesel engine, and it will also be offered in crew cab form with the 390-hp 5.6L V8, starting at $35,290 (shown).

Variation will be the name of the Titan game. Available as a 4X2 or a 4X4, truck buyers will have a choice of three bed lengths and five trim levels.

Between the Titan XD and full-size Titan, Nissan expects to appeal to about 85 percent of all truck buying choices.
