Traditionally, pickup trucks of all sizes and capabilities have been available from manufacturers such as Ford, General Motors, Ram, and Toyota. In recent years Honda and Hyundai have introduced conventional trucks with internal combustion engines, while EV automakers Tesla and Rivian have delivered their own all-electric models to the market. Ford and GM have also jumped on the EV pickup truck bandwagon, while Ford’s compact pickup truck comes standard with a hybrid powertrain.

No matter what moves the truck down the road, each automaker wants its models to stand out from the competition to keep customers loyal. The trucks that top Consumer Reports’ owner satisfaction ratings deliver on manufacturer promises, whether they’re about ride quality, payload capacity, or towing performance.

In order to determine owner satisfaction, each year we ask CR members a simple question: Would you get this car if you had to do it all over again? We look at the percentage of owners who tell us they would definitely buy their vehicle again to determine the top performers. There’s a good chance the vehicles CR members have found satisfying are the ones you’d be happiest with, too.

    More On Pickup Trucks

The pickup trucks below are the compact, midsized, and full-sized models that most satisfy our members, according to their responses in our latest Annual Auto Surveys. They’re ranked in order of their owner satisfaction rating, starting with the best, by category. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses, and not every truck is recommended because of a low test score, below-average reliability, or both. However, some buyers and owners put happiness with their vehicles as a key priority.

All key active safety features, including automatic emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, AEB that works at highway speeds, blind spot warning (BSW), and rear cross traffic warning (RCTW) are standard, unless noted otherwise.
