Frigidaire introduced the first electric refrigerator in the early 1900s. As a brand, it was so universally recognized, some believe it launched the nickname “fridge.” The company makes a variety of refrigeration products from small wine coolers to large French-door refrigerators as well as other kitchen and laundry appliances.
Owned by Electrolux, Frigidaire offers a full range of low- to mid-priced refrigerators. The company does not make built-in models, but the stand-alone units we test score above average and are generally considered a good value. Kenmore and GE top-freezers with icemakers are more repair-prone than Frigidaire and Maytag top-freezers with icemakers.
Frigidaire refrigerators are sold at Home Depot, Lowes, Sears and Best Buy.
