Sound quality: LG's SK1 delivers sound quality that falls in the Fair range, meaning that it has sonic shortcomings that leave a lot to be desired when listening to music but don't rule it out for dialog. In the Standard sound mode the bass has so-so impact, is somewhat subdued, and does not go deep. The midrange is fairly even, but is grainy, somewhat hazy, and has a touch of a plastic resonance. The treble is thin, a bit smeared, and the upper treble is muted. The overall sound is somewhat congested, and the soundbar only does a so-so job of recovering room ambience (the sense of the acoustic space in which the music was recorded). The Bass Blast sound mode boosts the bass slightly compared to the Standard sound mode, but the bass is still subdued overall. There was no significant difference in sound quality between the optical, analog, and Bluetooth inputs. The system can provide satisfying volume in a medium sized room.
