The Google Nest
Learning Thermostat is part of the
Thermostats test program at
Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Smart Thermostat
models like the Learning Thermostat are rated on multiple criteria, such as those
listed below.
Manual operation:
A higher score indicates better on-device access to controls. This rating evaluates how easily you can use the device’s built-in interface to manage key functions, such as setting schedules, adjusting set points, managing users, and controlling connectivity.
App Control:
A higher score indicates better remote access functionality. A top-scoring model lets you more easily control and manage the device remotely, such as changing settings like set points and schedules.
Display:
A high score means the display is easier to read. A top-scoring model makes it simpler to see information at a glance, especially in low light or from a distance.
