BJ’s is rolling out Black Friday TV deals on sets from Samsung, LG, and other brands. But how good are the deals?

Thanks to a tip from our friends at bestblackfriday.com, we got to see the whole 54-page Black Friday ad scan from BJ’s Wholesale Club. And we've scoured the pages to see what's worth your time and money, and what sets you should skip.

We’ve listed all the TVs we could find below, with pricing, some information about the sets, and our assessment of how much you’ll really save.

In general, BJ’s Black Friday TV sales are a mixed bag. But one thing we're finding this year is that there's not much difference in pricing from one retailer to the next, especially on sets from major brands.

Other TV and Holiday Shopping Articles

According to the Black Friday Steals ad scan, BJ’s Black Friday sale will run from Friday, Nov. 16, through Cyber Monday, Nov. 26, for as long as supplies last. The stores are closed on Thanksgiving, but open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 23.

Most of the TV sales last throughout the event.

Though the stores are closed on Thanksgiving, it appears that you can shop online for early access to doorbusters starting at 12:01 Thanksgiving morning. The stores then reopen on Friday Nov. 23rd at 7:00 a.m., and sales continue through Monday Nov. 26th.

This year you can order online, and pick up many of the items at a local store two hours later.

Lower-Priced Sets

While many of BJ's TV deals are on bigger—and better—models from LG and Samsung, there are a few lower-priced sets, mainly from other brands.

32-Inch Sharp 720p LCD/LED TV, $100
It’s the Sharp LC-32Q3180U. We only see this set at BJ's and it's already being offered at the same price.

32-Inch Samsung 720p Smart LCD/LED TV, $180
This is the Samsung UN32M4500, a 720p TV that the BJ's ad claims has HDR capability. (It doesn't.) We think this TV is also part of the Target Black Friday sale, where it will sell for the same price. The set normally sells for about $200, so this is not a huge savings. We tested this set, and it has commendable picture quality, though the viewing angle and sound aren’t so hot

50-Inch Sharp 4K UHD Smart TV, $270
The Sharp LC-50Q7180U. This set, mainly available at BJ's, is selling there right now for $400, so this is a nice $130 savings. We didn't test this set, but Sharp TVs have tended to be middle-of-the-pack performers.

55-Inch TCL 4K UHD Smart TV, $340
This is the TCL 55S403. It's selling at Sam's Club for $370 right now, and it was on sale at Costco for the BJ's sale price—$340—earlier this year. So this is a decent but not spectacular deal. We didn't test this set, but its 43-inch sibling, the TCL S403, does fairly well in our ratings.

65-Inch Philips 4K UHD Smart TV, $500
This is the Philips 65PFL5603. We don't see this model anywhere else right now. We tested the similar Philips 65PFL5602 and it was a decent set with very good overall picture quality. That set sells for about $600 at several retailers right now.

Samsung TV Sets

During the BJ’s Black Friday 2018 sale, the chain will be offering several models from Samsung's mainstream NU series, as well as several from the high-end Samsung QLED 4K TV lineup, which have tended to do well in our ratings.

We haven't yet seen deals on QLEDs from other retailers. But most of the so-called sale prices at BJ’s aren’t much, or any, lower than the regular prices we’re seeing in other stores, before Black Friday.

BJ's also has deals on Samsung sets in a newer entry-level NU6950 series, which are 4K models in screen sizes ranging from 43 to 75 inches. If you're looking to compare these sets at other stores, some retailers use model number NU6950FXZA for these sets.

All the Samsung sets 65 inches and larger come with free white-glove delivery.

Entry-Level Samsung NU6950-Series TVs
43-Inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV, $280
This is the Samsung UN43NU6950, which we've now seen at the Costco Black Friday sale for the same price. This set isn’t in our ratings, and so we can’t offer too much insight, except to say that you’re getting a 4K TV for about the same price as a 1080p model, and Samsung TVs typically do well in our ratings. Target has a similar-sounding model—the Samsung UN43NU6900—at its sale at the exact same price.

50-Inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV, $330
This is the Samsung UN50NU6950, which is at both Costco and Sam's Club for $400. This set comes with a bonus three-year warranty plus a free HDMI cable. Target will have the Samsung UN50NU6900 set—a tested set that did well in our ratings—for the same price.

55-Inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV, $400
This is the Samsung UN55NU6950, which will be at Costco for Black Friday at the same price. It's selling for about $480 now. Buy it at BJ’s and you get a bonus three-year warranty plus a free HDMI cable.

65-Inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV, $650
This is the Samsung UN55NU6950, which will be at Costco's Black Friday sale for the same price. Right now it's selling for $750 at Costco and Sam’s Club. As with the 55-inch version, you get a three-year warranty plus a free HDMI cable.

75-Inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV, $1,180
This is the Samsung UN75NU6950, which normally sells for about $1,500, so BJ's is offering a decent discount. It also comes with the bonus three-year warranty plus a free HDMI cable. And you get free white-glove delivery.

Samsung NU800D-series TVs
These models are step-up sets that typically come with more advanced features and better performance—plus higher prices— than the NU6950 models. They are generally equivalent to the NU8000-series sets that are sold through electronics stores.

55-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $730
This is the Samsung UN55NU800D, basically the warehouse version of the Samsung UN55NU8000 model sold elsewhere. (Both sets did well in our tests.) This model, under the Samsung UN55NU800DFXZA tag, is part of Costco's Black Friday sale at the same price. It's currently selling for $970 at BJ’s, but it's only $830 at Costco right now

65-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $980
This is the Samsung UN65NU800D. Another tested model, this set is currently selling at both BJ's and Sam's Club for $1,180. But it will be part of Costco's sale for the same $980 price.

75-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $1,580
This is the Samsung UN75NU800D. This model comes with free with glove delivery.

82-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $2,480
This is the Samsung UN82NU800D, which is selling at Costco and BJ’s right now for $2,980. So it's a decent $500 price drop, though Costco will have it for the same price at its Black Friday sale. Sam's Club will also have it as part of its pre-Black Friday sale, though the price hasn't yet been listed. We assume it will be priced similarly.

Samsung QLED TVs
These are Samsung’s premium TVs for 2018. Some of the QLED TVs are only available online, and others are only available at some club stores. All the QLED TVs in the ad come with a $50 Google Play credit.

49-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $700
This is the Samsung QN49Q65FN, a tested that model that did very well in our ratings. The TV sells for about $900 right now.

55-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $1,000
This is the Samsung QN55Q65FN, the bigger version of the set listed above. This isn't really a sale price—you can buy this set right now for $1,000 at BJ's or Costco, and get the same $50 Google Play credit.

65-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $1,300
This is the Samsung QN65Q65FN, which you can buy for the same price right now at BJ's, Costco, or Sam's Club.

75-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $2,000
This is another set—the Samsung QN75Q65FN—that's available at other warehouse clubs, including Costco and Sam's, for the same price.

82-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV, $3,000
This is the QN82Q65FN, a jumbo-sized Samsung set that's selling at this price at other warehouse clubs. (To find it, you may need to search for the QN82Q65FNFXZA instead; it's the same TV with a slightly different model number.)

LG TVs

Samsung TVs clearly dominate the BJ’s Black Friday ad, as they did in 2017. But there are also a number of 4K UHD smart TVs from LG to consider, including two OLED TVs, with that technology’s deep black levels and unlimited viewing angles.

55-inch 4K UHD smart OLED TV, $1,750
This is the LG OLED55C8AUA, a model we tested that's one of the best sets you can buy this year. While most of the Black Friday deals we've seen are being matched at multiple retailers, BJ's will be selling this set for $100 less than Costco on Black Friday.

65-inch 4K UHD smart OLED TV, $2,650
This is the LG OLED65C8AUA, the bigger version of the previous set. (We actually tested the LG OLED65CPUA, the same set with a different suffix.) Here, BJ's undercuts Costco's price by $50. This set is selling for $2,750 to $2,850 right now, so you're not reaping a huge savings.

65-inch 4K UHD smart TV, $870
This is the LG 65SK8000AUB, in LG’s step-up SUHD TV line. It's selling at Costco's for $1,070 right now. Abt and Best Buy currently have what we presume is a similar set—the LG 65SK8000PUA, but sold through electronics retailers—for $1,100.

70-inch LG 4K UHD smart TV, $870
This is the LG 70UK6570AUA. BJ's will have this set for about $30 less than Costco during its Black Friday sale. It's already selling at Costco for $1,050, but similar sets are selling at electronics retailers such as P.C. Richard right now for $1,000.

86-inch LG 4K UHD smart TV, $2,500. This is the LG 86KU6570AUA, is one of the largest sets we’ve seen so far in a Black Friday ad. Right now, it's selling for about $500 more, so this is a decent savings. Costco will have a slightly different model, the LG 86UK7570PUB, for the same $2,500 price at its sale.
