About - Black & Decker CM1936
This Black & Decker mower's rating consists of:

Mulching: Reflects a combination of evenness, which is how close the mowers came to even, carpet-like mowing, and how completely the mower distributed the clippings over the lawn's surface.

Bagging: Denotes a combination of evenness, which is how close the mowers came to even, carpet-like mowing, and how many clippings the bag held before it filled or the chute clogged.

Side discharging: A combination of evenness, which is how close the mowers came to even, carpet-like mowing, and how evenly clippings were dispersed from the side-discharge chute.

Handling: Includes ease of operating the drive controls (for self-propelled models), pushing and pulling, making U-turns, and maneuvering in tight spots.

Ease of use: Includes ease of starting the engine, operating the blade-stopping controls, shifting speeds (for self-propelled), and adjusting the cutting height. Bag convenience and ease of changing modes are separate judgments that contribute to the overall score.

Pros
Easy Height Adjustment
Easy right out of the box

Quiet

Comment:
Mow a couple thousand sq' of lawn.
It's quiet, powerful even in tall grass.
It was ready to use right out of the box. Just had to fold arms back and plug it in for 30 minutes.
The battery made it much heavier than our corded electric but worth it.

Comment:
When the time came to replace an old gas mower, electric seemed the way to go, but the devil is in the details. When the new mower arrived, the height adjustment did not work properly. Unlike traditional mowers, the adjustment mechanism is inside the casing. You can't see it or, more important, adjust/repair it yourself. Black and Decker's response was: you have to take it to a service center. Needless to say, I returned the machine and purchased something else.

Good for a small yard
3/6/2012
Pros
Easy to maintain
Low Vibration
Removable battery
Cons
Limited battery life
Best Uses
Small flat yard
Comment:
I have a flat 1/3 acre yard, and this works really well for me. Due to carpal tunnel problems I can't push gas mowers - they vibrate too much. This hardly vibrates, and if I don't let the grass grow too long, it cuts the yard on one charge. We bought two batteries so we could swap when the grass got long (after rainy weeks or vacations), and now I easily get through the whole yard in one go. The batteries are easy to replace.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
