Power Smart V8721P
Consumer Reports is warning consumers about a safety risk when using Power Smart V8721P and V8721S lawn mowers in rear-discharge mode. At the time of testing, CR found that the mowers could potentially throw objects such as sticks or rocks behind the mower, either at the operator's legs or farther into the yard.
Power Smart has developed an attachment to further guide discharge material away from the user, which the company is making available at no cost to customers who have already purchased these models. Customers can call Power Smart at (872) 314-0005 or send an email support@amerisuninc.com to request the attachment. Going forward, mowers will come with the attachment.
If you already own this mower, we recommend that you never use it in discharge mode without the attachment. Note that the current Overall Score in our ratings reflects that the mower should only be used in bagging or mulching modes. Consumer Reports plans to retest the mower with the attachment and will update the model's scoring as needed.
