Hisense French-Door Refrigerators Are Recalled Due to a Potential Safety Hazard
The door hinges can break and cause the doors to fall on you when opened
Hisense has issued a recall for over 55,000 French-door refrigerators sold in the U.S. and Canada. The hinges on the French doors of the fresh-food compartment can break, causing the doors to fall off when opened and creating an injury risk.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice states there have been 139 reported incidents with five injuries, including foot bruises and lacerations. The recall covers one model—the Hisense HRF266N6CSE French-door refrigerator—with serial numbers ranging from C2020050100001 to C2020123109000.

The recall: It includes Hisense HRF266N6CSE French-door refrigerators with a serial number ranging from C2020050100001 to C2020123109000. The risk: The hinges for the French doors can break, causing the doors to fall off when opened and creating an injury risk.
Incidents/injuries: There have been 139 reported incidents with five injuries, including foot bruises and lacerations.
How many: About 55,200 units in the U.S. and 78 units in Canada.
Where and when sold: The refrigerators were sold nationwide at Lowe’s and online at Lowe’s.com between August 2020 and February 2022 for about $1,500.
The remedy: If you own one of these units and the refrigerator doors don’t open and close properly, stop using it immediately and contact Hisense to schedule an in-home service visit. The company will replace the door hinges free of charge.
