    Best Toaster Ovens Under $100

The Black+Decker Crisp ’N Bake TO1785SG toaster oven lacks the fancy features that some of the more expensive models offer, but it snags a very good rating in our baking, toasting time, and full-batch toasting tests. It also has the ability to function as an air fryer and boasts a temperature range of warm to 450° F. This model earns an excellent score for color range, meaning it produces a good range of light to dark toast. But it does come with a few drawbacks. Its oven height is lower than that of other models we’ve tested, so it may be hard to fit taller items and dishes. Like the Hamilton Beach Silver 31143 below, this model fits just four slices of toast, while the others in this roundup fit six. Black+Decker earned average scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction when Consumer Reports surveyed our members.

The 1,700-watt Gourmia GTF7900 earns a very good score in our baking and full-batch toasting tests, and top marks for ease of use and cleaning. But it does face some challenges when it comes to reheating food and toasting a single slice of bread, earning average scores in those categories. This digital toaster oven was made with the small-kitchen cook in mind. Though it doesn’t have a large oven, its interior dimensions are still quite generous. Its exterior footprint (12x17x12) isn’t bad either, considering you can bake a 12-inch pizza and reheat a rotisserie chicken from Costco without taking up too much space on your counter. Most of the other models in this roundup can’t say the same. In addition, this model has a wide range of capabilities—bake, broil, convection, air fry, keep warm, pizza, dehydrate, roast, reheat, bagel, proof, and slow cook. It comes with an air-fryer basket and has dial and push-button controls, along with a temperature range of 90° to 450° F. Gourmia earns an excellent score for predicted reliability and a very good score for owner satisfaction.

The Hamilton Beach Silver 31143 toaster oven snags a very good rating in our baking test, evenly baking a batch of cookies and muffins. It’s easy to use with clear controls that are simple to set and a cinch to clean. This 1,100-watt toaster oven has a temperature range of warm to 450° F, and there are two rack positions. It can hold up to four slices of bread at once or a 9-inch pizza. But it’s worth mentioning that this model does a poor job when it comes to toasting one slice of bread.

The Hamilton Beach 31156 is the top-rated toaster oven in our ratings. The budget-friendly model earns top marks in a majority of our tests—including toasting time, color range, full-batch and one-slice toasting. It features a temperature range of up to 450° F as well as dial and lever controls. The 1,450-watt toaster can also broil meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables.

The Hamilton Beach Easy View XL 31460 is another formidable sub-$100 model from Hamilton. The toaster oven does well at making toast and can occasionally reheat leftovers or bake small dishes. It earns top marks in our baking test and a very good rating for turning out a full batch of toast (up to six slices at a time), but don’t expect the same results with a single slice. Aside from toast, this model does well at reheating. It also features additional settings such as broil and air-frying, and can reach temperatures as high as 450° F. Testers found this model easy to clean. The one major downside, however, is that it doesn’t have a timer.

    How CR Tests Toaster Ovens
Our engineers put toaster ovens through a series of rigorous lab tests. We assess how well these appliances deliver a nicely browned slice of bread and how well they’re able to toast a whole batch evenly. We also evaluate the range of color options for toast, from light to dark, and how easy the appliances are to use and clean. And we make sure they can reheat lasagna and bake cookies and muffins evenly.

But we don’t stop there. Each model’s Overall Score factors in brand reliability and owner satisfaction ratings gathered from 2021 and 2024 surveys covering 30,619 toaster ovens purchased new since 2016. The data allows us to calculate ratings on 28 toaster oven brands. We’ve found that brand reliability varies widely, with only a handful of brands snagging an excellent rating for reliability.
