    Pros

    • Reasonable price
    • Harness can be adjusted without rethreading or removing seat

    Cons

    • Difficult to fit rear-facing in many cars
    • Requires significant bolstering (with a rolled towel, for example) to get correct rear-facing recline
    • Wide base may not fit well between seat belt anchors in some vehicles
    • Provides poor shoulder and lap belt placement in booster mode
    • Lacks storage location for harness when it is removed for booster use

    CR's Take

A seat that requires a critical evaluation of fit before purchasing, as it is difficult to install rear-facing and may not fit many vehicles well. Best used as a harnessed seat as it does not provide good belt positioning in booster mode.

    About

The Safety 1st All-in-One is part of the Car Seats test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Harnessed Car Seats models like the All-in-One are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Forward facing fit-to-vehicle: A rating of how compatible, easy and secure a child car seat can be correctly installed in the forward-facing direction. This rating is a combination of the LATCH system and belt ratings that are available individually on the model page.

Rear facing fit-to-vehicle: A rating of how compatible, easy and secure a child car seat can be correctly installed in the rear-facing direction. This rating is a combination of LATCH system and belt ratings that are available individually on the model page.
