Reliability History Reliability History The reliability charts are based on responses on hundreds of thousands of vehicles from our latest Annual Auto Survey. Consumer Reports subscribers reported on any serious problems they had with their vehicles during the past 12 months that they considered serious because of cost, failure, safety, or downtime, in any of the trouble spots included in the table below. The results are presented relative to the average model that year. Extra weight is given to the more serious areas such as major engine or transmission problems. Based on this data and further analysis, we predict reliability for the latest year. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Our subscribers provide great insights into their satisfaction by answering one simple question: If they had it to do all over again, would they definitely buy or lease the same model? In addition, respondents also rate their cars in six categories: driving experience, comfort, value, styling, audio, and climate systems. N/A indicates that we did not receive a large enough sample size to provide data for a specific year. An X indicates that the vehicle was not manufactured for a specific year.

Available permanent Quattro all-wheel-drive assures traction and contributes to wintertime security. And yet, at 22 mpg, fuel economy is quite commendable. But that's just the beginning.

The A6 outperforms many of its peers because it is so multi-talented. It provides an uplifting driving experience thanks to its responsive steering and tied-down suspension. But it also rides smoothly, leaving the bumps and ruts of the road outside the solid, vault-like cabin. The interior is quiet, instilling a feeling of a safe-haven. Inside the A6 is sumptuous and accommodating, with super comfortable and supportive seats keeping you fresh and ache-free. The trunk is large and beautifully finished. Interior quality and ambiance are top notch, though it is more businesslike than glitzy.

"Shortly after delivery of the new car, when temperatures were below 0 deg C, the yellow warning light left turn signal/brake light/rear message appeared. They tried replacing the tail light assembly, a year later they replaced a wiring harness. The problem persists. Anonymous, CA (2015 Audi A6 2.0T 2.0-L 4 Cyl turbo)
Water pump

"Local german car specialty repair shop (independent, I did not use the dealer) said that they have been seeing a lot of water pump repairs due to Audi (VW) use of plastic for the housing. My entire pump had to be replaced, and it was almost a whole day repair as they had to take a lot of things out of the engine compartment and drop the engine to replace it. Car wasn't even 5 years old. So disappointing."
