This iteration of the Equinox is spacious with a roomy rear seat and easy access. Ride and interior noise are improved. However, handling remains clumsy, even with electronic stability control. And, the body leans a lot in turns. The V6 offers adequate power, but sounds coarse and gets mediocre fuel economy. Curtain airbags were made standard for 2009 (they were previously an option).

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"Seats are wearing out. Material is wore through on passenger side. We do not abuse out things. Replaced door luck system twice, replaced rubber around rear hatch twice due to water getting in vehicle when it rains. Also replaced air bag we sensors. When closing doors and hatch it has a very cheap sound."

Anonymous, DE (2008 Chevrolet Equinox)

"Lots of head room, minimal road noise while driving. I've been in this vehicle for 10 years and the seats are still as comfortable as the day I bought it."

Sean B., SK (2008 Chevrolet Equinox)

"It is somewhat noisy, but you get what you pay for (the Edge is by far much quieter); and it does not have a great suspension system, although adequate for safety."

Roger K., KY (2008 Chevrolet Equinox)

Did you get what you wanted relative to the price you paid?

What Owners Say

"Chevy is much tighter and negotiable on their vehicles to which I have owned many cars and dealerships. I feel that with this being on the lot in August 2008 they would want if off the lot no matter what deal. In no way did they and the car was as expensive then as it is now."

Anonymous, AZ (2008 Chevrolet Equinox)

If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
