This Texas-size wagon becomes your home-on-wheels on a long cross country trip. Ride, handling and braking are much improved over its truck-like predecessor. The Suburban seats eight comfortably with room for their luggage. Parking is still awkward and fuel economy is not great.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

"This vehicle was purchased to haul people and cargo and also for 4-wheel drive winter driving. It has performed very well. When we first bought it (2011), we replaced a front wheel bearing that was disclosed to us prior to purchase. The suburban floats down the road and is easy to drive for a large vehicle. Parallel parking can be difficult as this is a full size Suburban with the third row seat in the rear."

JESS J., NE (2000 Chevrolet Suburban)

"BIG (holds a LOT of stuff and people), comfortable, rides well, handles well in the snow."

MARK W., ME (2000 Chevrolet Suburban)

"The vehicle is exceptionally reliable with low maintenance and repair cost."
