The huge Suburban might not be politically correct, but it has been the vehicle of choice for families who won't fit in a minivan or another SUV, or for those who need heavy-duty towing or offroading capabilities. It can seat nine (though more commonly seven or eight) with plenty of room for luggage. A comfortable ride, quiet interior, and a well-mannered V8 engine are among the key attributes.

Overall Owner Satisfaction

Consumer Reports’ Annual Owner Satisfaction Survey can improve the chances of finding a compatible car match. How? Our survey data reveals whether, all things considered, owners would buy the same car again. The answer to that question is what determines our owner-satisfaction rating, which is a powerful piece of intel because it predicts how well a particular model will satisfy other owners.

What Owners Say

JOHN M., MI (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

"handles great and tows great"

BILL R., AL (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

"We love almost everything about it except the acceleration and jerky cruise control when trying to navigate winding roads at low speeds while in "cruise". We use the cruise because otherwise, it's difficult to keep it at low speeds. As far as acceleration is concerned, it's okay but I would prefer it if they gave the 6.2 liter engine as an option-the same engine as in the GMC Denali or the Escalade. I think that engine would be smoother and not have to upshift with great lurches when in operat"

BRUCE D., MA (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Purchased because of this 2013 Suburban being the last 3/4 ton (2500) made by GM. Replaced my 1/2 ton (1500) 2005 Suburban. Pulls my travel trailer with more ease. Provides the comfort and space as my previous Suburbans plus the extra heft in suspension I wanted. If I was concerned with MPG I would not have a Suburban."

ROY C., WY (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

Includes seats, climate control, noise, and ride

What Owners Say

"Seat cooling and rear heated seats"

JOHN M., MI (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

"A very comfortable ride on long trips. Adjustable seats keep my back supported. Driving from the higher position makes me feel safe on the highway."

BARBARA N., FL (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

"Automatic climate control - set it and forget it. It rides like sitting in your favorite chair. There is very little road noise entering the cabin and thr ride is very comfortable - like a luxury SUV - which is what it is."

ALLEN W., FL (2013 Chevrolet Suburban)

How it looks inside and out

What Owners Say

"Dash board cracked on a 3 year old LTZ model. Not covered by certified pre owned bumper to bumper warranty. Totally unacceptable and an indication of the quality of a $40,000+ vehicle!"

"Great looks and styling"

Percentage of owners who would definitely purchase that same vehicle again. Owner-satisfaction Ratings are determined by the percentage of those who answered "definitely yes" to the question asked by the Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey "Considering all factors (price, performance, reliability, comfort, enjoyment, etc.), would you get this car if you had to do it all over again?". If we don’t have sufficient data, a similar model might be used to form the owner-satisfaction score.
